^ I'm no vegan, but I think you might have some bad info.

It's possible to be vegan and healthy. It's just hard, and a lot of them don't do the proper research. When you eat nothing but sprouts and tofu, you're not getting proper nutrients.

↑↑↑ Agreed. The only vegan I knew that was healthy was one that was taking daily supplements and basically substituted meat with mushrooms.
Actually, a mushroom steak can be REALLY tasty and hard to tell from venison in its texture if it's cooked right (as in the way that this dude cooked them).

All that said, I think a lot of people that eat meat take what meats you can eat for granted.
Anyone here tried something that's not a standard in the West?

I've had most of Australia's native wildlife on my plate at one time or another, whale, dog, horse, various insects and arachnids.

The world is filled with some of the most amazing flavours if you can get past the "ewww" factor of eating a fried scorpion, live witchety grub, or cute little de-wigged doggy.
Which reminds me, for those of you that are into your steak, try a kangaroo steak done medium-rare.... oh man that's some good eating.

Yeah dog - if you've been to any asian country you could possibly have eaten dog, cat or rat and if you've been to France or Spain, you've probably eaten horse - but hey, an animal is an animal - whats the difference - its just meat.

I was traveling with 2 canuck chicks who told me a story about when they were in China. Apparently they went to a market where there were stalls and stalls of cats and dogs in tiny cages for sale (to be eaten).

They hatched a plan to set 2 kittens, which were particularly cute, free by buying them.

They bargained with the market trader for a better price - finally he agreed, pulled the 2 kittens out of their cage and broke their necks.

How funny is that :)

LMFAO. Too funny.

Aim: Yep... Dog... As Agua says, they're just food in S.E. Asia. Don't get me wrong. I've got a dog, I love him to pieces because he's big and chompy and adorably cute, and I wouldn't eat him. The dogs for eating, I don't know 'em like I don't know any cows or tuna. I eat a lot of cow and I eat a lot of tuna.
It's not bad meat, actually. A little tough, but I think it's more to do with it being low quality dog, than the meat itself. They're pretty runty when you see them in the cages at markets.
It's got a strong flavour, like a pungent beef, and it was highly salted too.

Matt: Loving the new sig, mate ;)

Horse actually tastes great!

As for cow tongue - when it is prepared well, it is also very, very great.

"Bregen" or brain, is a somewhat special taste.

I laughed. I mean it's sad and I think I would have cried right then and there, if it had happened to me. But it was funny reading it. (maybe also cause I lived in SE asia for a number of years and witnessed this happen a couple of times with chickens, and as westerners, we just aren't used to it, it's always quite startling.)

The only issue I have with meat now a days is the fact that they pump all sorts of hormones and useless shit into to accommodate the need. I admit I do eat it. There are just to many chemicals in food now a days. Americans seem oblivious to the fact that anything we consume that is suppose to contain sugar no longer contains sugar but HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. There are so many things in food that cause adverse reactions.

My wife recently took my son to see a DAN dr. That stands for defeat autism now. My son is not autistic the way you are thinking just has ADHD as do I. Needless to say he wants us to cut out a lot of the bullshit in your average daily diet.

They say if you start to eat REAL FOOD. Not the hormonally enriched, high fructose corn syruped, Red 10 added to look better, preservative garbage things actually start to taste better.
