Distractify.com and the art of eye catching titles

I wonder where people find these writers.
hmm this gives me an idea to revitalize my site

Few people truly understand copy writing and viral content better than Scott of ViralNova. He's been doing this for around 9 yrs now and has had multiple exits (over $5MM) all doing it solo. Great guy and helped me get a couple of my first websites up and running.

he founder is looking to flip the site, presumably for high 7 figures.

He's not looking to flip the site.

I'll second this

Soooo you can just steal content from Reddit without any repercussions? srs
Reddit was literally designed for posting duplicate content for the most part. Also Google doesn't give a fuck about duplicate content, they care about copyrighted content. So yeah, basically.

There's still a lot of unique content on Reddit. Are you allowed to steal every photo off /r/Gonewild and make a porn site out of it?

Can you steal stock photos as long as your site allows "user submissions"? If I go purchase a stock photo from Getty images and upload it to Reddit/Imgur, Reddit can't get in trouble right? Then why can't I do some for my shitty microsite assuming I have "user submitted" pages?

Google isn't who I'd be worried about, it's content owners. Seems like one big gray area.

It's 2014 chap. Yes you can. You could last year and for the preceding decade at least.

You're welcome.

I've actually seen someone comment on a girls photo in r/gonewild before, asking her what she thought of people using the images she posts on tumblr porn blogs, and she said it was flattering, she said it's only creepy when people pretend to be her on social media sites.

Content owners are usually happy to see the works they created being worthy enough to share. The worst that can happen is you get a message from one of these people telling you they want you to take it down or at least give credit, and then you give credit. You should be giving credit to people to begin with.

Plus some people are unaware of marketing to a certain degree, unless you're selling their creations as a stock image or as your art then I could see it being problematic. But if you put it on a site with AdSense nobody will think twice for the most part.

Oooh! Content owners!

Here's what I've learned about pop sites - a few times a year you will hear from a content owner requesting removal of content - when that happens, down with the content and reply quickly and plainly to the complainer "Picture is removed.", keep story telling and listening to a minimum and move on.

When you're creating content around offerings from reddit, pic dumps, etc. - no one post is going to make you or break you and antagonizing strangers over the right to a goofy/sexy picture isn't worth 10 seconds of thought.

And believe me, that person, usually a model/father/picture taker/obscure website owner/quidditch player) is grateful for the fast reply and quick to forgive since odds are if you're using it someone else is too. And that someone else is often from Poland and acting like he took the picture himself. Let them fight, I got tags to write on WF.

Okay well then what's the worst that can happen, assuming the content isn't copyrighted?

Where do you find content that isn't copyrighted?

Also, the WORST that could happen... Now we're talking about the types of horrors that could only be conjured by the mind of thehobbster or R.L. Stine, but I think the content owner showing up at your house and tieing you up and slowly slicing your entire family into pieces with a dull knife while you watch would be among the worst things that could happen.

If content is put on the open web. It's meant to be shared.

Just about the ONLY reasons a regular Joe Public or a Suzie Q squeals their pig or gets their panties in a bunch is when it is embarrassing, you are profiting from it AND they think they are somehow "better than you*" and that you should not capitalize off of whatever it is. Nobody sending emails to Yahoo! demanding take downs from their clearly siphoned from the rest of the web front page. It's news. News spreads. They smile with glee because the mega corp makes them famous. Little do they know said mega corp scraped the info from the p.o. box, kitchen / living room corp - and without attribution mind you!

But with all the Vines, Tweets, Instagrams, etc... these arguments will become void eventually except where trademarks, copyrights and patents exist, and where it clearly interferes with revenue or infringes upon rights.

Even pay walls will have trouble eventually. It is just the way a shared environment works. Besides, if they post it on something like Twitter or Instagram or even Facebook they've essentially lost all rights.

Hosting providers just need to get bigger balls to play with.

Well, I decided to take the plunge and enter into whatever you want to call this niche. Started work on this design 2 days ago, currently 9 posts in. I might change the domain if I happen to think of anything better/more catchy.
