My wife works 2 days a week and takes care of our 3/mo old.
I want her to quit working, she loves what she does though.
Who gives a shit how much or "on the level" of income your wife makes... it just means YOU aren't making enough. Man the fuck up.

I might say some cynical shit about marriage, but this is pretty much it. As long as you are on the same page about what the relationship means and what the roles are, it doesn't really matter if your partner is the same way you are when it comes to biz/work/whatever.
The shit you have to watch out for is cake-eaters and people who expect to "have it all" off your back without bringing anything to the table. Or those that expect you to work your ass off to provide $$ but also be available 24/7 for every little thing. You want to be on the same page and not harbor any resentment. There are trade-offs to everything.

What culture are you talking about? Hindu? There are many incidents of women getting beaten, raped, tortured, killed, it happens everyday in all cultures, you should know better man. There are no such thing as happy marriage, I have yet to see one.
Maybe you should consider that you don't always see things correctly and your experiences aren't the experiences of everyone else.

Ambition is sexy, not necessarily money. If I want money I make it on my own but if a man doesn't have some sort of passion for life then he might as well be a vegetable. I don't care if he's a waiter I want to know if he loves his job, is he the best damn waiter in the tri county area? That's sexy.

As for the 2nd paragraph, that's the standard excuse I hear from older women as to why they can't find an attractive man. Yes, men would rather date a 20 year old art student than a over the wall masculine as fuck jaded 40 year old who is successful. That's just basic human instinct.
I have no problem with ambitious successful women who are good looking and are in tune with their feminine side. Those sound pretty awesome to me.
In short in terms of preferences(my personal ones)-
1. Cute and feminine girl with ambitions, success and a cool personality.

I feel sorry for you and what you see. Happily married for 15 years and wouldn't change a thing, and there in lays the key; she has never tried to change me or I her.
I really believe that woman are sort of at their peak until 30 or so. After that, there are younger women who are more attractive for a lot of reasons, and not just because they are physically younger, but because they also haven't accumulated a lot of baggage like bad relationships, ex-husbands and a brood of fatherless children.

There are exceptions, but I don't think many women understand that once you're in that sort of demo, you're very, very unattractive and you have very few options.

On the other hand, 40 year old guys who are single about don't have a lot of trouble dating college age girls because they can offer something younger men usually cannot and that's financial stability.
I'm not intimidated by strong successful women. I think they are pretty sexy. But they are also a lot like me, an alpha type personality, and two alphas rarely go well together.

Alpha personalities are best together when they respect each others' boundaries and find common interest outside of their self-driven motivations to flavor the relationship. It's a challenging match to manifest.

Obviously there are women that are trying to justify their unattractiveness by putting down men in general. I think that everyone should play in their league. Should say though that older men have their own version of this: overweight unattractive older men that whine about women being gold diggers when they try and date hot young girls.
Marriage is a balancing act... rarely is it ever going to be 50/50 and one could argue that it would be worse if that was the case. You just have to find the right person for you. The one that fills in your gaps and you in turn can fill in her gap. (Pun intended)...
