Recently , I started using electrum as my wallet rather than the bitcoin-qt client.

It just downloads the most recent blocks and uses their blockchain, not an entire history. Fast and has a few more features over the normal bitcoin client (Like masspay).

As for wanting to send to emails - Yeah, the string sucks, that's why most people use QR codes. Remember, the future is in MOBILE payments, not sitting at a desktop, typing in an email. Bitcoin is gonna beat the heck out of someone like paypal for this, since all you're doing is scanning a QR and sending.

The big issue I have right now with bitcoin, that can't be fixed at this point, no matter how much lukep wants it done is the confirmation time. Last week there were multiple points where a block took nearly an hour to be confirmed. I don't know about you, but as a retailer, I want a few confirmations before I hand over goods. I don't know of many customers who are ok with waiting a hour or two before they get their stuff.

Or maybe the government could have a department for it, that seems safer.
