Personally I'm digging the Ron Paul/Who To Vote For related ideas.
There seem to be a lot of Ron Paul supporters on here, and if WF is gonna take over a keyword it would be cool for it to be something people care about

Imo, rather than ranking for Mitt Romney/who to vote for etc, it'd make more sense to rank for a money term. It'd get more people interested, because then afterwards, not only do they have the prizes, they also have a site that's banking.

no one's going to be ranking for any of those terms with a new site for any solid amount of time in less than a year
so now we need someone to cut the red line - we have a lot of suggestions and going into repetition and bs
wait, who's the organizer for all of this? I can't tell from Emp's OP if he just wants to see this happen or is actually organizing the competition. With the talent here, we could have the best SEO competition to ever be run, but someone needs to be in charge who isn't actually in the competition to keep things straight.

I agree. But you've then built up a solid foundation - the aim doesn't necessarily have to be to rank firstpage within the length of the contest - I think picking some mega hard term might make it more interesting.

Would be easy enough for someone to make a note of everyone taking part and their registered domains - means that person can keep track of who is in the competition?
Other than that because it's a SEO free for all it's just a case of checking results end of the competition to see who's ranks first. You could just add in all the domains to something like Market Samurai with the chosen keyword.. once the contest is over, update the results which ever domain is highest wins.

That's why we've offered free SERP tracking for the contest for everyone involved. It's easy for us to create a project called "contest", with a website called "bofu2U' with the URL being tracked within there. Easiest way.
ok further idea... Bofu can sort out the rank tracking for the rest of it you could do the following:
Find a independent person not going to take part .. I don't mind offering as it's not a hard job.
You need to narrow down the choice of KW's to try and rank for.. say perhaps 5 or 10.
Once you have these hold a private vote (send a e-mail to the independent) for the KW you would like to pick.
After a couple of days the independent can sort through and pick the KW with the most votes.
^ might seem like a long way to go about it but it should keep it fair as only 1 person will know the KW for the competition.
After the KW is found/picked .. pick a time that will try and fit in with everyone to make a post saying what the KW is. Then the independent can make the post stating the KW.
After this everyone will run around trying to register the domains etc etc etc

Not sure if including Godaddy is a good idea but an Anti SOPA campaign would actually be really beneficial and certainly an agenda most of WF would be willing to get behind. If anyone could potentially slow down SOPA through awareness it would be WF
If this is a Wickedfire contest let at least one of the mods or admins take hold of this thing, communicate with the organizer and be the judge and bamhammer and maintain integrity hold the prizemoney/goodies offerers liable ( list them properly in new thread ) as well as contestants of the contest.
The Organizer could be bofu2u or anyone could *lead the contest in the right paths by doing thread updates/ communication with contestants etc so the mod/admin doesnt feel burdened and report to the mod.
