England vs USA

There is still a massive following for soccer in the USA (because of the population), it's just percentage-wise it isn't as strong as other sports there.

just as bad as the fucking NBA on faking fouls

I haven't watched much basketball but I'd be surprised if any sport was as bad as soccer for faking fouls. The main thing I dislike about it..

Soccer is way more fun when you play it.
I just cant sit for hours and to see a goal or two (at times none). Same with hockey.

because I actually watched the fucking game, and found myself bored to tears from how slow it is, and then disappointed because they allow ties.

That's cool nobody is forcing you to like it, not really sure why you are posting ITT. The fact is it's the world's most popular team sport with about 3.5 billion fans basically dwarfing most other sport's fan bases so there's gonna be some haters.

Good match outside of the keeper slip up, that was just horrible.

I've never once watched soccer before, so decided to turn it on, you know, hype and all... I was immediately hit with one of the most annoying beehive sounding things ever

I wish FIFA would ban those stupid vuvuzela things. They gave me a headache earlier. Listening to them is going to get more annoying each day.

If you really want to appreciate soccer first thing you gotta realize is that more goals does not = more fun.

The excitement comes from the play itself. The creative passes, last-second saves, amazing reflexes, beautiful vision, long balls, rocket-shots, pin-point tackles, bursts of speed and acceleration, beautiful dribbles, a lightning-fast counterattack.

This makes watching soccer unbearable:

Sounds like every bee in the world is mating during 2 hours of sheer boredom that ends in a tie. Enjoy your "sport" and we'll enjoy all of ours.

Those are only blown in South Africa, aside from that it has no connection to soccer.

Why are you so bitter? Someone made a thread about soccer and you've posted in it several times about how much you hate it, but why? It would be like my going on a baseball forum and spending time writing about how shit I think it is and that they can enjoy baseball while I'll enjoy football. Very strange.

Why have you got such an 'us and them' mentality? It's not "our" sport, it's just a sport that happens to have a bit less support percentage-wise in the USA than most other countries.. Why do you have to read into it any further than that?

I just find it incredibly weird... It's almost as if it's because the USA is not one of the best at it so as a defense you distance yourself from it as much as possible, I know that's not true but that's just the only logical explanation I can think of to explain this strange phenomena.

I'm sure there are many sports you dislike, there must be a reason why you're so vocal about this one...

He's probably so vocal because of how badly the sport sucks cock. It's like baseball mixed with a bad afternoon soap opera.

COOL BRO. Guess what though I like basketball and american football and tennis, boxing, skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, volleyball, UFC, college variations of team sports, and more! Pretty much anything that accepts bets and has balls and cocks(shuttlecocks, cocks fighting, or just some big ole black penises) involved is cool by me. Who figured one could be a sports enthusiast and actually like more than 1 sport if soccer is an interesting game to them too, crazy fUcKinG world. :hollering: :small-smiley-026: :hollering:

Maybe create a little group on here so you guys can get together and unite in your misunderstood and ineffectual hatred for soccer if that helps you express yourself.

The USA playing style is focused more on tackling and stealing the ball. The problem with that is every time a defender goes after a forward, he leaves an opening in the defense. USA was not good at filling those holes in the defense.

That type of playing style is more fun to watch than, for example, German style total conservative defense soccer. Some German games go on forever with not much happening other than total ball control and passing back and forth.

Were the England team members larger than most of the USA team? Maybe it was the white jerseys but team England looked like they were all much bigger than team USA.

Lost £100 on that match, but have just won £200 on the Tampa Bay Rowdies/Montreal Impact game so that's a good end to the day.

The game itself was a bit of a shocker, not a great advert for the World Cup. Wonder who will finish top of the group now?! Think they'll both struggle against the likes of Brazil, Spain etc.

That's because they covered a lot more space. Not actual space, soccer space.

The way they moved and positioned themselves, the US didn't have much space to make passes and spread out.

South Korea did it the best vs Greece. Textbook way to stifle possession.

Two worst sports to watch on TV are baseball and soccer. Too fucking slow. Playing both of them is a different story; they're fun. I watched the first 30 minutes of the US vs England game and turned it off; it's just way too slow to watch.
