Just stick to the facts that true football is the world's most popular sport, and always will be. We're the only country that this doesn't hold true, and the only country that like American Football, so that should say something as well.

These arguments back and forth are silly.
Football vs. NFL: "Soccer" was not coined by America, so just drop it. Second, soccer is the most popular world sport because A. Its much older than American Football AND much easier to play economically. Soccer only needs a ball and a makeshift goal. Competitive American Football needs a complete outfit and padding for each player. Plus American Football skills are mostly developed AGAINST other players, where as soccer skills can be developed alone on a dusty road in wherethefreakeverinthe3rdworldakidlives.
Both are great sports. But soccer appears superior because of the mass appeal that really has little to do with the quality of the game at its highest level.
Football vs. Rugby. Come on. Rugby players are badass, but physically speaking they would be CRUSHED by NFL players. You go get a team of NFL players and spend a year practicing Rugby and they would physically demolish whatever team they played. They wouldn't WIN against the premier Rugby teams, but they would physically demolish them. There is no real comparison between the two sports physically.
man this makes me think about the time that Portugal had a real captain (not ronaldo) and Figo was still playing.
BTW: Quit the Italian beer goggles. You guys aren't gonna make it out of the group state without another big help of the ref that will suddenly invent a penalty when there are only 10 minutes to play before you get sent home (Italy-Australia, 2006 - non-existent penalty that gave italy the needed goal to get through the group stage)
