stay away from carbs unless your about to do a workout even then stick to complex carbs

and who ever said lots of reps on a low weight = muscle gain is a fool ...
lot of reps low weight = toneing even less weight with more reps is endurance
less reps more weight = muscle Gain

dosnt apply if your just loseing weight:

As for protien ive always tryed to keep it in my meals without having to have Shakes

U shouldnt need supplements until later stages of bodybuilding or you my not have the time to prepair a well rounded meal.

Also b4 u start takeing any supp read reviews on them and read religiously some sups have crap in them u wouldnt want to be takeing :)

Thats about all i can add, And No i dont want to use a spell checker

hes trying to lose weight?
Sure if hes going to the gym in a few hours eat some complex carbs

but other than that .....

Wan't to lose weight?

It's simple!

Stop eating you fat b**t*rd!!

I used to do sit ups, pull ups, press ups etc first thing in the morning for a few years. That's the best time. If you leave it 'til later, you'll be more likely not to do it. Exercise for its own sake is boring. I put on muscle, but didn't lose weight. Made me feel a good deal better, 'though.

Then! I started fasting for religious reasons about nine months ago. Lost half a stone + gained spiritual benefits.

So: light exercise for more muscle and general well being, and fasting to lose weight.

Basic fact: You can't get any fatter if you stop eating!

PS: I love bacon sandwiches, burgers, butter and chocolate. If you like sweets/candy, get the good, expensive organic stuff. You can eat more, as there's
way less sugar. Cheap confectionery is sh*te.

A tip that is actually realistic and workable:

Get a dog.

That forces you to get your fat lazy arse out in the morning and evening for a 30min walk, and should make a realistic difference, instead of all this B.S. about pumping iron and going to the gymn and shit. Face it, you're just not going to do that.

I've noticed a difference, plus its usually nice and peaceful at the start/end of the day, and I can get my shit together mentally.

Especially if you work from home, he's gonna luuurve you!

Empty carbs are not the only carbs, btw...

You need carbs - Atkins and all of his brainwashed people are dumb... straight dumb

carbs are best pre/post-workout and for breakfast. maltodextrin or instant oatmeal (+ some dextrose) is a good complex carb source for protein shakes. try to replace some of you midday carb calories with calories from monounsaturated fats.

well we all sit on our asses too much! But i find it helps to be consistent and to cut out certain things. Try to exercise daily, does not really matter what that is as long as your heart rate goes up and cut out the foods that make your ass grow - and that is different for different people.

For me a try not to consume a few things.

I cut out dairy -- milk cheese. I replace with rice milk products.

I limit the red meat - replace with a ton of fish.

I never add sugar to anything.

For the work out. I surf and ride moto all the time, but my body is use to that so i have to change it up alot- to shock the muscles.

For the past 10 years or so i have started every morning with push ups, and recently started doing sit ups to -- kind of a old jail house work out. I also started running and do weights at least 3 days a week.

What ever you do just stay with it.

Got a serious question for this thread: I'm over 350, so running is kind of out of the question unless I want to destroy my knees, ankles, back, etc.

Are ellipticals very good compared to a plain old treadmill? I like the idea of an elliptical: no impact especially, but they seem to "do" the work for you (almost). Any thoughts?

SEO_Mike, my boss is in the exact same boat. He used to play football in college and weighs about what you do, but has fucked up knees and ankles. His doctor specifically told him to either walk or use an elliptical to lose weight (with the obvious diet modifications).

Yoga is definitely worth a shot as well. Low impact, reduces injuries, helps with relaxation and is much harder work than you actually realize.

I exercised and played sport every day but then hurt my back when I fell out of a tree (I was drunk and thought it would be a neat idea to put my mate's pushy in the top of a 15 foot tree). I couldn't jog or play sport anymore so of course started to stack on the kilos.

I gave Yoga a shot and it helped immensely. It was amazing how much stronger and flexible I felt after just my first 4 sessions but the benefits just kept coming.

I wish I had some advice for you but I am in the same boat. I have been sitting at my desk way too darn long and I could use to shed a few pounds myself.
