Guys, I'm understanding all of this. My point is that the fine line between evolution & abiogenesis is very blurry in most people's definition. This is why we are having the problems that we are.
As I've stated several times, it's all about the definition of evolution and everyone twisting it up to suit their agenda. This is why big religion is having the issues with evolution in schools. Obviously evolution meaning change is harmless and quite obviously a fact of life. When you bring the big bang into the debate it changes the meaning of evolution to something it is not.
Bear with me here, I'm just trying to explain why the religious sect feels the way they do. When you fuck with people's religion (God or science) you're playing with fire ... as this thread confirms.
Evolution has never been meant to explain how life began, just what happens once it has done.
no shit?!?!! Read what I write please
Abiogenesis != Evolution

no shit?!?!! Read what I write please
and Atheism != Spontaneus life creation.
No belief system for me, Kthnx
::emp::
Athiests can believe that aliens seeded our planet ... or simply not not care or believe either way. I'm fine with that emp. That one was a small stretch but when you follow abiogenesis through can you not see how it's damaging to one's religion?
This is not fact and should not be taught as so.
No more sad than me having to prepare my 6 year old son for the religious fanatics that he comes across everyday here in the bible belt.
Werd, I'm not claiming that southern baptists are not fucking nuts. That's like saying PITA protestors are not crazy. I was raised by bible belters in the deep south ... I feel your pain from the other side.
But honestly, you are trying to get on a pedistal comparing ID to evolution because you have science in schools. ID, abiogenesis & big bang should be left out, plain and simple. It's conversations like these that make the line blurry. I know it's there but when 200+ passionate posts show up in an evolution thread in only 2 days you can see how the common man can confuse the issues.
Ask any of those religius fanatics what evolution means when they come knocking on your door. You'll see that your athiestic agenda has corrupted what is a quite simple definition. It no longer means change ... this is not religions doing. This is science getting an inch and taking a mile.
EDIT:
But I never doubted the theory of Evolution (as a science). Just like I don't doubt the theory of Gravity.
Nor did I, I just never fully lost my religion as you did. That said, religion is NOT a factor in evolution as long as it means "change" not "how the earth was created".
