Sorry for some off-topic, but you really should not compare Putin to some ordinary guy in a subway. I used subways in many cities acrsoss the globe, and in absolute majority of them people try to take as little space as possible while sitting. And I really do not advise anyone using Tokyo subway, especially during rush hours... can of sardines has a lot of free space compared to it.

I just wanted to say that NYC subway really needs some changes for the good. But if you tell a fat black girl, who took 3 sits with her enormous arse, that she takes too much space - she will never move and begin yelling that you are a racist. Regarding this, specifically the bold, it's obviously just society subjugating women. I mean why should a woman have to ask for a man to let her sit down? That's just playing into the power dynamic that has allowed the patriarchy to oppress women and minorities for centuries. Etc.
What it boils down to is that modern feminism (third and now fourth wave) is not about equality. Instead, it's about advancing the interests of primarily white, primarily middle class women. No reasonable person is for feminism in its modern state. However, no reasonable person is against first and second wave (equality-focused) feminism either.
Using him as an example how a man is sitting outside of the subway is hardly obsession. Putin's management of power, however, is very instructive, even if I don't agree with his policies.
