Doing a website for a client with Godaddy hosting. Had "Website Tonight", I didn't know people still offered this kind of shit. Worst domain registrar, overpriced, 900000 upsells, and general SHIT everything.

I have had zero problems with Godaddy in regards to domain hosting, although I use none of their other services and always register or renew domains with coupon codes to bring the price per year down to about $7, I think their user interface is possibly the absolute worst on the internet and confuses the customers totally.

I think the interface is one of the things that drives me to hate them. "Do you want to look at this? Too fucking bad, check this out!"

What kind of problems are you having with registering your domain?

None with domain registration right now. The biggest problem I've had with them with regards to domains is the crap they send me in the mail, the interface, the charge for privacy, etc. I think I just get most fed up at trying to navigate their site. I never use them anymore personally, it's just when a client uses them I have to dig around again.

Hosting is restricted and overpriced as well with them.

I use to sell websites a few years ago and I use to dread people with Godaddy and Yahoo hosting. Part of the sale would include me setting it up on their hosting. I would end up telling them to get a better host.

Godaddy works great and is cheap if you don't fall for there AM style marketing upsells.

Don't fall for your own traps!

Get 5 .coms they give you free privacy. Plus, with coupons you can get domains at $7-8 so 5x8=$40.

Namecheap and moniker are better options.

To be honest I use 8 different registrars to avoid leaving footprints. Godaddy is one of the registrars I use and they aren't bad. For hosting they suck. Also if you want to transfer to non-godaddy registrar.

And the 6 clicks it takes for registration isn't that bad. It's not like I'm tripping balls and can't concentrate on something so simple without falling for obvious crappy upsells.

It works great for throwaway domains and test runs.... custom buyer profile = less bullshit.

If you use their back end without a buyer profile, you will continue to hate yourself.

I actually like Godaddy for domain registrations, but hate their hosting. It is God awful. I have worked with clients who have used them for hosting before, and I usually make them switch to another host before I will begin work.

I don't mind using godaddy for my throw-away domains and the .info ones I use for some of my nefarious schemes but I just make up the whois info for those. When I want legit domains with security godaddy is impossible ... they add in all sorts of hidden recurring fees and make it confusing as hell. I had to call support and actually talk to someone it was so bad.

I gotta agree with the others that suggest namecheap for legit buys. They have better value for domains w/ security and are way easier to use cause they don't try 50 upsells.

A couple years ago GoDaddy told me that I had 30 days to transfer a domain or I'd lose control over it. But I couldn't fucking transfer the domain name because GoDaddy makes you wait 60 days after registering a domain before you can transfer it.

I haven't used them since.

Their privacy isn't even private they auto roll over to almost any requests

^ what the hell is going on in that banner?? :D

GoDaddy's upsells don't bother me as I make sure not to fall for them. With coupons they got nice prices, so fuck it, if they try to confuse the sheeple, more power to them, thats business!

heh, just my graphic design related banner. Lucky I don't host my domains in godaddy or else I would assume I get emails and shit from them ?
