I disagree. He's not a dumb guy. He's obviously made a mistake by doing so, and in the process compromised his trust and respect with a lot of people. I'm pretty confident he's learned his lesson and that he'll approach this place with a bit more humility and respect than he did so before. He's got a lot of fight in him, but that's just who he is.

There will always be people within a community that feel as if justice wasn't served correctly or up to their standards.

If you really think about it, this has already been having a noticeable effect on him and how he participates in a given situation, so hopefully that continues and doesn't diminish in the future. But he's a resourceful guy, so if anything, he's probably going to work a hell of a lot harder to earn back the respect of the natives and think twice before he does something that could compromise his reputation or cause the kind of collateral damages he's had to battle with as a result of his decisions. He is not a dumb guy, but he still has conflict of interest. Who comes first for him, Wickedfire members or LPLockdown customers?

Is he going to promise and announce on his blog that he will not collect any kind of personal data from Wickedfire? To think about it, LPLockdown is the kind of product that would pit his fan base against one another, you know people who visit his blog and chat. But those properties are his own and Wickedfire is a different matter.

The conflict of interest has not been resolved in any way.

Im not really sure how many times I have to try and explain my problem. I really didn't give a fuck about my IP being harvested. My main concern was the fact that I do alot of business through this forum and wanted to know what other privacy issues that I needed to worry about. I guess I wanted assurance from SOMEONE in charge that all measures were being taken to ensure that my privacy remained as private as possible. After this whole fiasco, privacy seemed to be something that wasn't all that important to the powers that be.

Why am I "bad mouthing" the guy? He personally attacks members that have real concerns. Sure acting like an idiot can be all fun and games on the internet and all the 4chan kids will love you for it but there does come a time as a mod on a business forum that you have to take serious questions...seriously.

Honestly, don't give a shit about harvesting the info that is dynamic and short lived for the most people, but the way Nicky acted in response to concerns is total crap. It's actually not slow at all and extremely simple. Grab IP address from the HTTP request for the image, and then insert it into a database

It was a gray area because we had disabled it in all signatures a year earlier, but it didn't include the moderator's user group, so he was still able to put it there out of an error on our part.

You may disagree with him doing so, and for that, join the club of lots of us who think it was a foolish and silly thing to do. But alas, people make mistakes. I bet all of you have made plenty of "shady" mistakes over your career in this industry, does that mean we should hate you?

His LPLockdown service and WickedFire share no partnership or mutual interest in any way, shape or form. He's completely independent of WickedFire except that he performs his moderator duties by following our rules, which he has been doing.
