Fucking Telemarketer

I was getting those auto warranty calls too. Annoying as hell but, luckily, I haven't received one in about a week. (I know I'm going to regret saying that.)

I'm in Florida and I still get these calls as well, I have gone off on a few of them pretty badly. After telling one of the telemarketers to take me off their call list, he responded with "your still going to get calls." I haven't received any lately though.

Telemarketers are sure a pain in the ass..
If I could, I'd shoot each one of them!

I like to see how long I can keep these fuckers on the line. My record so far is 17 minutes.

me "Wow! that's amazing! I was just thinking about upgrading my warranty/double glazing/extra insurance... can you hang on a sec while I get my credit card?"

them "hello?....hello? I've got a live one here but I don't know ehere he's gone... hello?"

me "Hi, sorry about that. Now, tell me ALL about it." puts phone down

Them "blah blah blah... 4 minutes later.. hello?"

me "hi, still here, just noticed, my card has expired. Hang on whil I get the other one..

etc
etc

The fines for DNC law violations get very big very fast. And I believe that the money goes to the plaintiff if it's a small claims case.

Telemarketing was my first job! I sold window cleaning services when I was 16 years old. Was pretty good money ($8/hr + $1-2 per sale) so if I met the quotas I was making $10/hr - Great money, but ridiculously BORING.

Did have some fun people on the phone tho

Me: blah blah blah want window cleaning?
Him: sure
Me: ok I can quote you out - how many windows?
Him: ummmm... close to a million in my house
Me: wow that's going to cost a lot
He laughed then hung up

Then I got fired after 5 weeks cuz I stopped calling people. The only time I've been fired and I was EXTREMELY happy to get fired.

My roommate actually works at a call center that does this exact offer and they are defiantly not legal. The numbers are from anywhere they can get there is no scrubbing with the do not call list or anything of the sort. You get a phone call that says push 1 to be removed and push 2 to talk to a sales person and both of the numbers just send you to a sales person. He says they will call the same number from 3 different area codes in one day often enough. The employees are instructed not to give out the company info but told to lie and just say the company name is "Warranty Services" and not to give any info beyond that.

Are they instructed on what to do if the customer asks to call them back later to buy? (if you know)

Just asked him, only have to yell since he is sitting 30 ft away, he says the they just tell them they can't do that it's an outbound call center and don't have a number to give away.

Been getting these calls too, I never answer them and it seems like they are tapering off pretty well.

That's it right there. I used to get telemarketer calls all the time. I just stopped answering my phone and let it go to voice mail, if I didn't know the number. I get one a month, if at all now.

telemarketers

Glad to know that I'm not the only poor SOB getting these calls on my cellphone. I am cordial the first time, second time tell them that I am referring them to the Attorney General's office, third time tell them that I have already referred them to the AGs office and ask for their personal information, and demand to be taken off the list. This seems to work.

yeah i get these calls too except they are going to my home phone.

i recently bought a car so im not sure if maybe any of you guys recently bought a car or anything?

but on a side note i love the irony in this.

I get sometimes get two or three of these calls in a day, and always at least one. I've also gotten robo calls from a mortgage broker and a couple other companies. Someone, somewhere, opened up cell phone lists to telemarketers. And I think low life businesses are taking advantage of this while they can.

Yea it was recently that it was allowed by telemarketers to call cell phones. I've also been getting the 'warranty' calls after i purchased a used honda at the dealership in october 08. The calls were once a week or so. I just hung up. Its been happening less often as time goes by. They did send a mailer and i havent had a call in 2 months or so.

Fucking cum dumpsters just called me with a blocked number so I answered and fucked with them. 5 minutes later the operator hung up. That's right bitch, YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS

Telemarketers are really fun to play with. Instead of being pissed and quitting the conversations, a friend of mine and I have started playing with them instead, wasting their time and pissing them off while having a good laugh.

Sometimes we pretend we're interested and keep the sales person engaged in the conversation. After a few minutes of non-stop bullshit the sales person asks the ultimatum, and we say a no, which leaves the operator alittle irritated after talking for so long. Sometimes they ask why. Anyway, then we go from the "no" to compliments such as "I am so glad someone is doing what you do !! It's such an awesome idea. Makes me so happy that someone ... !!" etc. The sales person is engaged again and starts talking again. Then we ask a few questions about the product / service to pretend interested, and when the ultimatum is asked again our response is no. That really pisses them off:D

I was threatened over the phone today by these guys - and bothered to spend an hour having some fun- I'll be having a lot more.

The net affect is basically this:

1) The main operation is based in Wentzville, MO - operating under several names
(US Fidelis aka National Auto Warranty, etc)

2) The voicecasting is apparently stemming from the Netherlands surely to bypass US do not call laws, THEY GIVE OUT ZERO INFO ON THE PHONE (per Krongel's suggestion), and instead give out threats (the next calls will be recorded and sent to the media). Sites include: One Auto Warranty - Extended Warranty Coverage for Your Car, Truck, SUV, or Van and USfidelis Extended Car Warranty | USfidelis .

3) I spoke to the MO Attorney General's office this afternoon- and a rep there admitted that they had sued these idiots and settled. I asked if she would be willing to put in writing that MO would settle for pennies on the dollar so I could "fire up a call center scam in her shitty state and know I'd make millions in outright theft" <as supposedly no warranties are actually ever sent> - she didn't appreciate this. Verizon has also sued- along with supposedly other states AG's.

4) IMO it's time to go after these guys. The line is crossed when you make threats over the phone gary theim style. The officers and more info can be found in the reddit link below, but I think WF should start a huge negative SEO campaign with all the names of employees. A lot of people have posted info about team leads, paralegals, etc. Here's a linkedin profile of their paralegal who from the EDU years assuming she went straight out of highschool to be early 20's. Time to ruin her life.
