You know, they are really slacking on the hardcore sci-fi movies lately...
I was watching the previews for Transformers yesterday and saw one that caught my eye - something by the same director as Men in Black and Independence Day. It seemed decent enough - end of the world, big boats, fighting for survival. I'm not a movie buff or stellar at remembering titles, so that's all I can say about that. 2012 perhaps?
+1 if you enjoy a brutal mind fuck every now and thenPrimer. You MUST see this movie.
I'm a sci-fi / horror buff myself and off the top of my head, here are some good ones;
Sunshine (a space-sci-fi movie definitely worth checking out), and The Illusionist (some wouldn't call it sci-fi perhaps but you will know what I mean after seeing it)![]()
Check out 'The Man From Earth'... The Man from Earth (2007)
It's a very simple movie about a guy who suddenly quits his job to move away, so his colleagues visit him for a little going away party and keep asking him why he is moving away. He tells them that he is in fact a 14,000 year old immortal, and he must move on every 10 years otherwise people start to notice he doesn't age. The whole movie is basically him and his colleagues in a room questioning him about his past, trying to disprove what he is saying and him explaining it away. Its a fucken fantastic movie in my opinion... top notch sci fi. Way better than the bullshit you see at the cinemas.
