2001:A Space Odyssey

Those who don't like 2001, don't understand it. This is THE best science fiction ever made, or at least in the top 10. Look on any major movie review list, it's always in the top 10. My personal favorite as well for too many reasons to list right now... but a classic nonetheless and often misunderstood. Once you dig deep into the ending and Kubrick's message your brain will implode.

Free Enterprise (not really a Sci-Fi but it has Capt. Kirk in it and is kind of funny)

I dug Event Horizon too.

Alien and Aliens.

Haven't seen it in forever (and it would probably suck in retrospect) but I remember The Final Countdown being awesome when I was a kid.

Bladerunner is one of my favorite movies ever, and it's sci-fi. If you haven't seen it, go see it now...it's a classic.

Especially considering that you liked Dark City, Donnie Darko, and The Matrix, which are three of my favorite movies ever as well. It's very similar to those movies, and I think those movies were actually very much inspired in some ways by Bladerunner.
