Goodbye, Copyrights. Defcad search is born.

Um, wasn't I the one who posted that video?

You posted a March 11th video that encapsulated clips from his January 9th segment, yes. Late as usual.

He seems to me to be someone who has spotted where the conservative crowd is heading (towards Liberty) and set up shop ahead of them first...

That's because you don't really know anything about him.

Beck's always had a pretty eclectic worldview, that has basically always been changing in small ways.

The first time he really threw his weight behind the "libertarian" term was when he relaunched his channel as a global network. But he's been talking about his discussions with Penn Gillette and other libertarian friends ad nauseum.

All that to say, Beck isn't even a cookie-cutter libertarian nor do I think does he want to be one.

You're just another brainwashed drone repeating the same old boring propaganda about how Beck only does what he does for money. It's the same crap, different pieholes, although for some reason there does seem to be an inordinate amount of it flowing from yours.

When Google has the self driving car, you can send your car to do errands for you as well. Like, "car, go get me a #1 at BK, here is $10, bring back the change."

Me the day this is possible =

Lulz! Beat your posting of it, didn't I?

I know all that I need to know. Like you, Beck has no fucking idea what liberty looks like and keeps thinking that the state is acceptable. I could be wrong though; maybe he's just pretending to be a statist to keep people like you listening to his show.

So he's either stupid or greedy... I'd bet stupid but slowly improving.

Penn knows liberty though. I am happy that Beck is spending so much time with him. Something's got to rub off and no matter what, this is heading in the right direction.

I don't concern myself with ppl like beck. He's not part of my world except for those few minutes he had Cody on his show... You brought him up in fact.

I just hope beck leads you far enough to understand what liberty is one day. It won't be soon I'm sure, but perhaps once you get a taste for the fruits of peer-to-peer networks in a few more years you'll see the bigger picture going on around you... One that has nothing at all to do with politics.

Lulz! Beat your posting of it, didn't I?

LOL, you're proud of posting a story broken two months ago. And Beck's the one who follows the flock?

I don't concern myself with ppl like beck...

Weird, because this forum is littered with your ignorant comments about him.

It would probably be better if you didn't concern yourself with him.

You're probably also the type of person who thought the TPB guys shouldn't have gone to jail.

For someone who drones on and on about liberty and property rights, you sure seem to have very little respect for intellectual property rights.

Of course! It wouldn't be very libertarian of me to wish to see people be jailed, now would it?

For someone who drones on and on about liberty and property rights, you sure seem to have very little respect for intellectual property rights.
Sigh.

This sentence is absolute proof that you have no idea what libertarianism is.

Libertarians, and especially anarchists like myself, disagree with IP laws, and many of us would rather see them removed entirely.

Of course I have little respect for IP rights! It's PROPERTY rights that are all-important to libertarians, not little pieces of government paper that essentially say "I saw it first!"

Wait wut? You want to completely do away with people's ability to own their own intellectual property?

It's PROPERTY rights that are all-important to libertarians...

Sure, if someone builds something out of wood or stone, then your version of "libertarians" are all about his property rights.

Yet if someone builds something out of film, or actors, or singers, or programmers, or studio time, then your version of "libertarians" are suddenly lining up to proclaim the virtues of "sharing rights" and "peer-to-peer".

Makes perfect sense.

A watchmaker has property rights in Lukep's world, but the rapper or software engineer has zero rights to his creation.

This was discussed at length 2 months ago (to lazy to dig up thread) And Luke was a part of that convo

Geez. Some of the biggest news in our lifetimes is being dropped here today, and you guys want to discuss in length the basics of living in a free society.

I get it though, this is pretty radical thinking from the society we live in. IP is taken for granted as being a fundamental right here, when just a couple hundred years ago you'd be burned at the stake for suggesting that a corporation can own an idea.

Consider this: The most downloaded song on youtube today, PSY's Gangam style, is there without any IP Protection. PSY absolutely refuses to participate in IP.

He's made shitloads of money regardless though... Something he couldn't have done in the US where no label would have carried him without full IP.

The point is, IP is just another State-run RACKET. You don't need it, the world wouldn't be very different if apple could steal microsoft ideas and vice-versa... The two companies would still exist and their products would likely look LESS like each other's products, simply because they'd need to look original to build their "brand" and trust with their following.

For a mind-opening romp through the libertarian's view of IP, check this out: Without Intellectual Property - Mises Wiki

Happy reading bros. It's good for you.

Now, anyone want to speculate on WTF the gooberment is going to TRY to do to stop DEFCAD?

It should be very entertaining, no matter what approach they take.

A movie, a song, or a program is not an idea. It's something that someone poured money, blood, sweat, and tears into.

PSY absolutely refuses to participate in IP...

That's his choice. He created the content.

If another content creator decided they didn't want to give away their creation for free, that's their right too.

IP is just another State-run RACKET...

The state has nothing to do with it. Property is property, whether it's a house someone built, or a movie someone directed, or a piece of software somebody created.

You should respect their right to own their creation and not have it stolen by sniveling little bastards like you.

Man, was I satisfied when those pathetic, weaselly Euro-weenies went to jail for stealing content and pretending they were doing something noble. One of those Swedish fags even called himself a martyr.

Now, anyone want to speculate on WTF the gooberment is going to TRY to do to stop DEFCAD?

They'll probably just ban the sale of the machines or the material eventually.

I'm actually a published author, so I might understand something about this concept. It took me a while to accept this argument myself, but in the long view, there is more fairness in the world if Intellectual Property is not a "Right." You build a far more stable and happy society if physical things are property but ideas can be copied freely.

Again, IP is a new thing to humanity. An unfair thing that gives the state more power to wield over everyone so that monopolies can be maintained.

Curiously, it only came about after the formation of permanent corporations... Hmm, I wonder why?

Check out Mises IP page of that same wiki for lots of general arguments.

Choices ARE rights. Ideas are not. Concepts are not... These were never Property until the 19th century, either.

Wrong. Concepts are really just natural discoveries that could have been discovered by someone else under similar circumstances. It's not the same thing at all as someone's property that they've made or bought.

How like you to delight in the torture of others, especially when they are just standing up for something they believe in.

Did you take delight in the Inquisition too?

They'll probably just ban the sale of the machines or the material eventually.
This is something I could see them trying, but alas, it is certain to fail.

First of all, the machines are 99% to the point where they can replicate THEMSELVES. So the thousands of people who own makerbots now could print out makerbots for their friends.

Secondly, there is already a design in the works for a recycler, so you can make the raw materials out of old items you have around your house just by throwing it in a little chipper-shredder that makes more 3D printer materials.

...And of course those recyclers will be printable too in time.

BTW, I just wrote a post about DEFCAD on Bitcoinfinger.

Yes, and it's not like every movie song etc, hasn't had its roots in the intellectual property of just about everything that has come before it. The whole of Hollywood should be fucking sued for stealing ideas, they haven't come up with an original idea in fifty fucking years. Same goes with the music industry.

Poor lukep.

He just wants 3D printing to take off so he can print some friends who will listen to his crazy ideas.
