Google offers 4 Billion for snapchat.

Also... if Zuck was really smart, he'd allow you to group your "friends" and select which group is able to see which updates.
BRO DO YOU EVEN FACEBOOK?

Yeah, called "lists"

When you are viewing your Friends page in your profile hover over where is says "(checkmark)Friends" next to anyone's name. It will show you a menu, one of the options is "add to another list" from there you can create a new list, group people by what you want them to see/not see and post directly to a certain group. This is how I keep my binge drinking and drunk self shots from my family. (kidding... sort of)

Awaiting friend invite for that list. K thx.

But, on topic, I guess zuck didn't make it easy enough if Snapface is stomping him. Social media big leagues is interesting.

Facebook isn't edgy enough, it's become almost family oriented maybe cuz the crazy kids that first started hanging out there grew up and had families.

They can't compete with a platform that is basically built for safe(ish) sexting, if they tried they'd alienate their more mature god fearin wholesome users

What's the point of G+ if they are just integrating it and pretending it's a social network, but not a social network at the same time. The only thing I've seen come out of it is G+ profiles in the SERPs and that's about it really... Realistically the only way to really authenticate users is to get ID/CC information of the user, everything else can be faked.

I get the idea of "un-anonymizing" the internet, but at the end of the day, that's one of the cornerstones behind the internet. So if they keep shoveling this G+ down everyone's throat, they'll end up alienating people that want to troll and bring excitement to those same services. Those people will just move on to different properties and those properties will then become the new hot thing taking away the pageviews that Google needs for those advertising dollars. Trying to get rid of the anonymity of the internet is like trying to get rid of the dark by shining a flashlight, one area might be lit, but it's only the area you shine.

Most trends are set by the younger generation, which youtube has a great grip on. The problem is there is no monopoly if someone can come along and re-create the service and do it better and the consumer can flock in droves away. Yeah, the professionals may stay on youtube, but if the pageviews aren't there most publishers and content creators will move on, to where the audience is. Trolling is a part of the internet.

Bill Gates once said "Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose." Google thinks it can take on any and everything and problem is failure is always around the corner for everyone. When you've got massive amount of your userbase angry and crying foul over and over, eventually, a new solution will pop up.

Another Google failure - Google Checkout: https://support.google.com/checkout/sell/answer/3080449?hl=en

Closed it's doors cause it just wasn't getting adopted like they wanted it to. Last day to charge orders is on November 20th, 2013. The main reason is lack of mass adoption - a prime example of them trying to force something onto people. With Youtube, they bought that audience, and are now attempting to force it into something it's not.

Google Checkout failed because Google always fails to see the value in a global rollout. The market for good payment processing that is easy to sign up for is saturated in the states. Emerging markets and even places like canada were excluded.

They should have worked on expansion before throwing in the towel.

This was going to happen from the get go. I knew the first time I used google+, how shitty and un useable it was that we were all just beta testing guinne pigs to mine the kinks out with. That it wouldn't be widespread for awhile at that stage. People were like.. "lol fuck google+ it's so lame, ghost town..." but i knew what was to come.

Frankly I think everyone is overreacting. The biggest point I'm going to try to make is that Google doesn't need your actual names anymore. They have you tied down to IP addresses, and unique computer signatures. Why would they care if you choose a characters name to troll around with? They don't and it already happens. Google + isn't going to destroy "FUN". Lowest common denominator stuff is encouraged and thrives.

They're not trying to destroy internet anonymity... the mass market adaption of their browser botnet, their acts of data mining for centuries, has already destroyed that anonymity for a huge majority of the internet. People are so immensely delusional.
