The point is that he was one of the top French comedians for years and ended up getting banned from all TV stations and major theatres for making jokes about the holocaust. At the beginning of his career he also made jokes about Islam, Christianity, Blacks, Whites, Indians, but it's when he started making jokes about Jews and the Holocaust that he got in serious trouble. He's still banned an dealing with multiple lawsuits today.

That and let's not even talk about Maurice Sinet, a cartoonist who was employed by Charlie Hebdo and ended up getting fired for making a joke about Sarkozy's son converting to judaism for "financial reasons".

So yeah, freedom of speech in western countries is encouraged when it comes to bashing Muslims and Blacks... tolerated when it comes to bashing Catholics... but when it comes to your Jewish overlords, pas touche mon ami!
