HELLBLAZER PANIC TITLE. IPCC USES BUNK RESEARCH, CLIMATE CHANGE DOESN'T EXIST

This climate stuff is the authority to strangle the free market and to levy taxes on a global scale, which is for all intents and purposes, one world government.

The difference is, there won't even be sham democracy. All of these people at the UN, IPCC, World Bank, IMF etc are all unelected bureaucrats who will have the power of government-over-all-national-governments via the ability to tax and regulate.

The only thing worse than an elected politician, scoundrels that they are, is an unelected politician because the latter has absolutely NO accountability to their constituents, or rather, their constituents, are not the public, but the special interests who maneuver them into those positions of unchecked power.

The whole notion of giving anyone so much power is borderline insane if you stop and really think about it.

I am all for caring for the earth, conservation, etc. But that is not what this topic has ever been about. It has always been about ideology, power and money.

1,000s of scientists claiming 90% probability = "They need to get us tons more evidence before we can even consider a 25% chance! And they somehow have to make it so this highly detailed proof can be easily understood and trusted in 5 minutes by me, the layman."

leaked documents = "OMG, I'm now 100% convinced that 1,000s of scientists are part of a giant conspiracy!"

1.They talk about the polar ice caps melting and always show pictures of big ice chunks breaking off into the ocean, but I understand that ice builds up in the polar region then pushes the rest of the ice out till it reaches warmer waters and melts in a big cycle of sorts. Yet they say the temperatures at the poles are rising causing the melting. When the melting temperatures of ice are anything above 0'c and both polar ice caps are around -25'c to -45'c how exactly is it possible that they are melting even if they do say they are raising in temperature every year?

"At the poles" probably means "around the poles." What they look at is the total change in volume of the glaciers.

Global_Glacier_Mass_Change.gif

2. They say green house gasses caused by chlorofluorocarbons are making the ozone thicker causing the greenhouse effect which is causing the earths temperatures to rise. Then they're saying the chlorofluorocarbons are eating away at the ozone making more sunlight get in causing the earths temperatures to rise. Which fucking one is it?!
The ozone layer is just one "thin" part of the atmosphere. Atmosphere as a whole can get bigger while the ozone part shrinks.

Argumentum ad populum. You're arguing that the number of scientists makes the conclusions true. On the contrary, only the facts, whether held by one, all or none can make something true. Argumentum ad populum is a logical fallacy.

scientists
Argument to authority. Another logical fallacy. It doesn't matter if the person promoting facts is a taxi driver, a scientist or a priest. The facts are either true or false, regardless of who promotes them.

While scientists do specialize in science, what they choose to believe or support, doesn't become more or less true because their are scientists.

Now, the absence of proof, negative proof fallacy, is not proof itself so I won't claim that the emails disprove AGW, however, the scientists you prop up as authorities, have been exposed for destroying data, refusing to be transparent in violation of the law, and collaborating to silence dissent from other scientists and journals. All of which are not in the spirit of scientific inquiry or ethical behavior.

If you truly believe in facts, science, and discovery, you should be outraged that these leading climate scientists, from Mann to Jones, have conspired to deceive the public and to subvert scientific inquiry. And beyond a shadow of a doubt, that is clearly proven by the emails.

So please stop appealing to the number or specialization of these guys. They are just as corrupt as anyone else. Only the facts matter and when their facts are open to inquiry and study by everyone, we will approach understanding the truth.

There is no reason why the data and the modeling code, cannot be made available for every single person to look at and study.

The only thing I'm arguing is that some people sure do change their logic depending on what the theory is.

Yeah, but we know who is going to get called to a murder trial for medical information. Most jury members aren't going to be looking for their favorite economist.

Huh? I'm talking about the 1,000s, not the few that we know did wrong.

Yes, but the large majority of the pieces of the puzzle are already available for anyone to look at. Science builds upon itself. The greenhouse effect was being looked at in the 1800s. For anyone really interested in the science, there are plenty of sites geared to the layman, made by those who have little or no reason to have an agenda. Easily being sure of a vast conspiracy is the flip side of the coin to someone viewing Gore's movie and then marching in the streets to ban toilet paper. Pointing out that the governments could be using it to impose a bad plan or whatever is one thing, but I don't see a need to spit in the face of every scientist who recorded a temperature or whatever.

So basically, when all hell breaks lose and the shit goes down, it *still* won't be any type of Global Warming, it will just be the End Times. Right?

I see what you did there.

I mention Obama only because he is currently the person in power. Neither man was qualified to be President, but Obama is far more dangerous because he is in the thick of it, working with these people and fully signed on to their plans. He knows exactly what he's doing. McCain, meanwhile, was a poor dope who was usually manipulated and deceived into supporting their initiatives. In my opinion, he doesn't know the real purpose behind their campaigns.
I wanted to be perfectly clear on what your stance is on this. While I find your points agreeable for the most part, I still think that your posts focus too much on the opposing party, the "more dangerous" Dems, as if "poor dope" McCain would somehow be less responsible if it were him in office supporting the bailout and the climate bullshit. BOTH candidates are highly influence by much of the same corporate powers, so why isn't this the main issue?

Its unproductive when most people would rather take jabs at the opposing party (both dems and reps do this ALL DAY) than to talk real solutions (ie Ron Paul/stuff guerilla talks about).

LISTEN UP...

In politics, all you have to do if follow the money trail. There you will find the RATS: Al Gore = The Rat King.

WAR = Profits (Megadeth: Peace Sells but Who's Buying?)
CLIMATEGATE = Eugenics and Carbon Credit Taxation...Profits
FED RESERVE = Privatized Banking Profits to the detriment of the people.
HEALTHCARE = Profits..

Liberals = Communists.

Is climate change real? Don't know but pollution and diminishing natural resources are. I am not big on the climate change thing but still think from a tech standpoint we need more innovations such as electric cars, more efficient solar energy, etc.

I think the climate change deal was mostly promoted by Al Gore to sell DVD's, get money to speak at events, and more. He has a mansion in Nashville and always has SUV's sitting out in the driveway. I think this should be others sign that he is full of shit. Aside from all of that, cap and trade if passed would be the nail in the coffin for our manufacturing and industrial industries.

It took me all of 2 seconds to debunk Moxie's video.

Debunk what? It clearly shows how political people quickly became very opinionated over something that they had little understanding of. As for more damaging emails that surfaced since the story broke, potholer at least said something about being willing to make another video.

My family is hugely involved in politics here in Canada. (I know, I know.)

Stephen Harper, our PM, was not going to go to Copenhagen because he refused to sign anything because he thinks there's more pressing matters at hand. He agreed to go just because, contrary to the press, he wanted to talk with developing nations about trade. (Not about global warming.)

The good thing about Canada is that there isn't much weight from corporate, or private citizens, in the way most major decisions are made. Sure they can lobby, sure they can ask for favors, but for anyone who's really followed politics in Canada Stephen Harper does what he wants - unless forced to do something else by an opposing party. (E.g bailout. Funny story about that, if anyone wondered why 97% of the money isn't sent out PM me.)

Unfortunately the media tries to fuck Stephen because he won't sign an international agreement regarding climate change.

Hopefully people will start cluing in.

Yes, the research and countless hours of fact finding by thousands of scientists working with data that people here don't actually have access to, using techniques that have been developed and refined over a century in fields that none of us have any training in must be incorrect because they are authority figures and the majority of them hold a particular view.
As for the appeal to authority... Yes, let's disbelieve the scientists and rather believe news pundits and other people that have no actual training.

You realise how asinine that sounds, right?
Just because you couch it in what looks like objective logic doesn't make it so.
About as scientific as scientology.

Now, I personally don't believe in anthropogenic climate change, but I do believe in actual real climate change which is demonstrably happening.
As such, I'm all for doing whatever we can to mitigate the effects. Frankly, I like eating food which needs to be grown, not having the fringes of my city burn to ash every Summer, and having drinking water fall from the sky rather than having to be processed and chlorinated.

I also like the idea of not having cities where breathing the air each day has a a similar affect on your lungs as smoking 1-4 cigarettes daily (i.e. Beijing & L.A, and yes, as a smoker I'm aware of the hypocrisy here, but I'm thinking of people that don't smoke) thanks to amazingly low emission standards, reefs that aren't bone white because of ocean acidification (which actually has been linked to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emission), and fewer cumulative industrial effluent based toxins working their way into the foodchain.

All of those sound like great reasons for us to actively limit our polluting ways, things which have been discussed over last 50 years (20 in simple to understand cartoon form for those that like green mullets and red boots)...
But hey, "man made" global warming is a hoax, so let's just do absolutely nothing and continue to use resources that are demonstrably damaging the ecology in other ways that can be directly linked, correlated, and confirmed.

The sad part is that any real solution to all of this really is down to individuals to get going.

Spot on.

You could make the exact same case for catholic priests on the origin of mankind. Again, authority and popularity (or volume) has nothing to do with the truth. Because they are more familiar with the material, doesn't mean they are correct, and as the emails demonstrate, there is not a consensus, but a process of limiting scientific inquiry to manufacture a false consensus, through the silencing of dissent and alternative views within the scientific community.

As for the appeal to authority... Yes, let's disbelieve the scientists and rather believe news pundits and other people that have no actual training.
That is a strawman argument. I never suggested listening to news pundits or people completely unfamiliar with the topic.

I'd like to point out, a strawman is a dishonest argument. A deliberate misstating of the other party's position.

You realise how asinine that sounds, right?
Sure it is asinine. That is why you tried to attribute it to me falsely. To de-legitimize the points I have made, without addressing them directly. That you repeated the logical fallacies I pointed out, only makes your response less credible, at least in the opening.

Just because you couch it in what looks like objective logic doesn't make it so.
You do realize how ridiculous it is that you reject objective logic, then argue for scientific fact? That is my entire issue with folks like you. You treat science as a means to your own subjective quasi-religious social views. You don't treat science objectively. You aren't criticizing these guys for subverting the scientific process, but rather criticizing me for pointing out the illogic of the arguments presented.

Am I wrong for showing skepticism, which is the foundation of scientific inquiry, and pointing out the acknowledged fraud?

About as scientific as scientology.
Strawman, red herring, fluff.

Now, I personally don't believe in anthropogenic climate change, but I do believe in actual real climate change which is demonstrably happening.
Of course, climate has always changed. It is a great example of chaos, the climate system is never repeatable or static. It is not meant to be. Life is not a static experience.

As such, I'm all for doing whatever we can to mitigate the effects. Frankly, I like eating food which needs to be grown, not having the fringes of my city burn to ash every Summer, and having drinking water fall from the sky rather than having to be processed and chlorinated.

Enable the free market. Environmental improvements are always tied to property ownership, as opposed to commons exploitation, or management by governments which have the wrong set of incentives (short term planning) to manage resources to the greatest efficiency and sustainability.

All of those sound like great reasons for us to actively limit our polluting ways, things which have been discussed over last 50 years (20 in simple to understand cartoon form for those that like green mullets and red boots)...
Let's remember, 40 years ago, the same warming alarmists were calling for an ice age by 2000. This is an ideological movement, tied to the eugenics movement at the beginning of the early 20th century, and the post WWII population control movement based in the UN.

But hey, "man made" global warming is a hoax, so let's just do absolutely nothing and continue to use resources that are demonstrably damaging the ecology in other ways that can be directly linked, correlated, and confirmed.
Another strawman. No one suggests doing nothing. And you do the debate a disservice by pretending it is that polar. I'm super environmentally conscious. But I am also aware that every time the watermelons (green on the outside, marxists on the inside) get a movement ginned up, millions of people die. Usually the poorest, whether it was when they banned DDT and malaria started killing on huge scales again, or the global food shortages worldwide as crops are converted for use as inefficient biofuels.

The sad part is that any real solution to all of this really is down to individuals to get going.
It's sad that you think it is a sad realization that the individual is the solution.

What a miserable, myopic, and collectivistic view of the humanity and the world to have.
