Herman Cain wins Tea Party straw poll

One of my favorite clips.

You guys sure do have some high hopes for candidates...every election it gets down to the final two assholes and you look at who you have left to vote for and you're always like "fuck".

The republicans have nobody, Obama will win based on his "star" power and lack of a proper candidate from the right. Will be like McCain/Obama again.

Most likely candidates to run on the right are these guys, right?

Huckabee
Bachmann
Palin

If any of them run they will lose it.

Jindal is cool, don't know shit about Christie. Still, the outlook is dim. All I know is I listen to Cain on Boortz and the dude sounds pretty cool I didn't know much else about him.

Perhaps. But I would never be able to justify voting. To vote is to support a violation of property rights.

Jake,

Not like you give a shit about my opinion but not voting because one feels that it won't make a difference, is like letting someone beat the shit out of you, without fighting back, because he's bigger and will whip you anyway. It is the attitude of a defeatist and if done, in mass, one of the quickest ways to ruin our Republic that I can think of, a cop out, to the extreme.

..................and yes, if you don't vote, then STFU and eat the shit they feed you without complaining about it. Non voters forfeit the right to be taken seriously, in any political debate.

To many good men and women have given their life to give you the 'right' to vote.

Honestly, from reading many of your thoughtful posts I'm a bit 'surprised'.

I think you misunderstand my position.

The reason I refuse to vote has nothing to do with my thinking it won't make a difference. On the contrary, voting perpetuates a state that takes private property away from individuals. I refuse to support that.

I encourage you to read the piece I linked to previously. I also recommend that you to read this piece. Both pose arguments that dovetail with my position on voting.

I haven't the time or motivation to discuss this in great detail on an anonymous forum.

EDIT: at guerilla: the Carlin bit is awesome. I had never seen that before.

Nah. You're right about any of them running being losers. The Republicans will field Romney.
On an outside chance Gingrich might win the nomination.

As to not voting, wouldn't it be better to campaign for something like a "No vote" selection on the ballot?
I believe Jesse Ventura was trying to get momentum behind an idea like this a few years ago.

Gingrich has too much baggage I think...

Two very interesting pieces, I find myself agreeing to a few sentences, yet I disagree about their 'position'.

However, you are right - this discussion could take forever with no solution satisfactory to anyone.

Re: Gingrich

There is no way he'll ever become nominee. President's that get elected have to be 'good looking' and attractive. Think about it - most attractive candidate in the information age always wins.

Obama - McCain

Cowboy Bush vs. metrosexual Kerry

Cowboy Bush vs. Cigarstatue Al Gore

Clinton vs. Dole

Clinton vs. Bush Sr.

etc...

Going by that... Rubio has a shot, besides that....
