One thing I have learnt very quickly with the affiliate marketing industry is that there are alot of people who do it but more importantly really rely on PPC advertising..

I have a question for you... How screwed would you be without PPC Ads and just relying on organic SEO?

Maybe we should look at having some form of competition on who could have the most successful site without using any PPC promotions... what do you guys think?

now now no need to be so upset... I understand it would be frustrating that your husband stole your handbag but there is no need to be like that... it is just soo true that you have no decent response.

That's like going to any brick and mortar business and saying "zomg you wouldn't survive without advertising, see how many customers you can get from just walking past your shop!!!Z@@!1"

actually you are right to a degree but if you did organic seo you may not get as much income straight off the bat but atleast when you do get to the top you would smash the income...

I personally have never done PPC and I do see good value in it however I do think that alot of affiliate marketers would be screwed without it...

Go back to DP noob.

You're trying to say that waiting months for a term to rank (hopefully) is more profitable than throwing 3M imps against a campaign in 2-3 hours on FB?

Idiot noob.

You're off your fucking rocker there Slick!!

You are actually proposing some dumb-assed contest that would take at least 3 months but would need 6 months to really prove out?

You really think that ANYONE who is in the PPC game is going give this any credence?

Since you have "YET" to swim those waters and take the necessary risks involved to get real returns in a reasonable amount of time, you want to try and DIVERT the attentions of those in PPC?

You are either MORE drunk than I am at the moment or just had a MAJOR brain fart!!

BTW, I would venture to say that at least 90% of PPC'ers have a decent STABLE of straight SEO sites to maintain a steady revenue source that is pretty passive.

Oh, maybe you are NOT aware of this since you are NOT into PPC yet, but most EVERYONE who is doing PPC has quite a bit of first hand real world SEO knowledge.

You would most likely LOSE.

You ever see Quigley Down Under?

In reference to your contest, this is how it would go:

Ranch Owner (You): "How...how did..you......?

Quigely (PPC'ers): "I said that I NEVER HAD MUCH USE FOR STRAIGHT ORGANIC SEO, I never said that I did NOT know how to use it!!"

Magicberry, what if I told you that your mom sucked so much dick she would give birth to retarded se0 warriors? How screwed would these donkey kongs be? Hm...

if there was no PPC, id create a site that got lots of traffic and then create adwords and sell ppc ads to everyone.. hurrrr durrr brahhhh

It is threads like this that I read and thing (about the OP and responders) - WF is such a cool place. They allow anybody to say anything. If anyone has been banned they would have had to done something pretty severe.

Yeah I like going through life with zero control- it's for this reason that I simply stick a 'please help' cup outside my doorstep and rely on those earnings to live.

Hurr durr

I would much rather do PPC through 4-5 ad networks, then create sites, wait a long ass time, and be under the mercy of Google's algorithm.

The thing is, when you stop spending money with PPC, what does your business consist of?

Both have their merits and deficits. There are few people who intend to do this as a career who haven't staked out and created their own products and properties which they hope to monetize for years to come.

So instead of looking at them as opposing tactics, see them as complimentary.

I think being an affiliate marketer should be a stepping stone. You shouldn't stay an AM for the rest of your career. You want to bank, and then open up much more stable legit businesses, or buy out a company that has established themselves well. Affiliate Marketing is obviously very unstable, and it will only get harder as more shadier (easier) offers start dropping. I would much rather bank as fast as I can from AM and move on to bigger things, then wait around to bank gradually.

I'm not saying that SEO is bad or useless, just that there is risk in it also, the risk of losing time for nothing. I know a buddy of mine that built a 10 page website on a product, spend months building backlinks, and finally got it ranking great for the term he needed, and he was banking decently well. But bam, 1 month later the advertiser drops the offer and he was never able to get an offer to replace it.
