Sounds like you've made too much of an emotional investment in those training pitches - so chances are you won't believe anything except magical thinking. Have you tried the WorriersForum? They won't make fun of you there - as long as you've got money.

Either think for yourself - outside the box, or buy the box and live in it. But hey, it's a winner box - say's so on the label. It must be true.

Tip:- the best of those books is just copy and paste from the free documentation from Google/Yahoo/Amazon etc. The difference is the "books" (25 pages of padded PDF) are generally wrong, out of date, and a complete waste of your money.

But what the fuck do I know? I only come here to post, and click on shiny things - I never read, study, or test assumptions.
Trust me - I'm a newbie ;-p

I also bought Neville Medhora's Kopywriting Kourse off Appsumo.

Big fan of elearning, whether it is mises.org, Khan Academy or paid courses. Knowledge is half of the equation in a digital economy.

Hey guerilla. How is the Premium Membership for Mixergy?

When I checked out the Mixergy site last year, it seemed like the site was basically Andrew Warner interviewing entrepreneurs and having them tell their story. I remembered the Mixergy name and never really looked into it more. Lately I keep seeing Andrew Warner's face popping up on ThisWeekIn and all the other podcasts I watch. Are there more to the classes than that? It sounds pretty interesting.

I used to buy a lot of courses in the beginning (circa 2005). Most of it was junk. Some of it was pure gold though.

Would have taken a lot of trial and error to figure out certain things that got me on my way... mostly timeless core marketing/selling stuff (ala Cashvertising) not bullshit churn and burn techniques.

I still buy a ton of physical books on the core stuff mentioned above. And I wouldn't hesitate to drop serious money on copywriting courses from the greats. Although, like almost everything else, those can be had for free if you know where to look for them.

If were you I'd go buy some essential copywriting books like Tested Advertising Methods, Breakthrough Advertising, etc., and read everything by Gary Halbert (The Gary Halbert Letter) to start. Then if you want to learn about stuff such as Adwords or Facebook PPC, there are good physical books (i.e. Google Adwords for Dummies, Killer Facebook Ads) that will teach you most of what you need to know to be successful.

The rest comes only with doing.

But I find it pretty shocking that so many people, on this forum especially, don't see the value in investing in their own fucking education.

Mixergy is an okay example.

Higher end copy courses are a better example.

I like it. Plus, he content locks the interviews after a month or so, and he has hundreds of archived ones, so if you want to take advantage of them you gotta subscribe.

I've gotten a lot out of that site, I don't mind paying.

Why? I'm seeking information. I pay value to receive value. I look to sources I trust, and seek their recommendations.

The average person goes, "hurr durr, let me search 'make monies online' and see if I can buy the 'secrets' to success for $37!"

I'm on an ongoing search for wisdom when it comes to my field(s).
