Vote in teh poll, number of screens on your work desk.

Im going to refurnish my 'office' and not sure if i should add a 2nd 21 inch.
Are 2 monitors better than one? Is anyone working with 3?

1 Monitor? So '94 man. I would stick with at least 2. be baller and keep em the same size and brand...

went from 15 inch lcd, to 2 - 22inch monitors to a 50 inch tv back to 1 - 22 inch monitor. I have to say that using 1 is still the best for me for productivity. I like the advantage of having 2 when you do coding and other stuff but other than that i kept the other 22inch off 90% of the time.

two monitors to a computer, two computers, also have a 13" macbook pro which is currently the primary computer...

i found that three monitors is not any better than two, but two monitors on two computers is a lot better...also two monitors are a million times better than 1, I go crazy trying to work on one monitor now...the only bad thing about multiple computers is that its kinda a pain to have to swap files and you cannot copy and paste whats on one screen to the other computer although sometimes i still try not thinking...other than that two computers is great...can do a lot more multitasking and never overload one computer...

You can copy paste stuff with RDP. I don't think you can do files, but I think you might be able to drag and drop...

For those of you struggling with multiple monitors on the same desk with a physical KVM, there are two alternatives that allow you to share a mouse and keyboard between machines over the network. You can switch screens with a key combo or you can move your cursor between screens by moving it across a boundary, just like running multiple monitors on one PC.

Input Director (Windows only)
Input Director - Software KVM to Control Multiple Computers

and

Synergy (Windows, Linux, maybe OSX I dunno, but the last release was in 2006)
Synergy

I prefer Input Director. I've been using it for a while now, and it's not buggy like Synergy. Synergy has problems with the clipboard and caps lock, etc; it'll stop working or get out of sync and you'll have to restart Synergy to fix it.

I do have a small problem with games and Input Director, specifically playing EverQuest on multiple monitors, I think ID causes a false mousepress in a certain spot on my main PC when I am switched to the secondary PC. Synergy has more serious problems with DirectX, however, including locking out secondary systems when CPU load gets too high.

For those who are struggling with desk space, I recommend these monitor arms:

anatome

I got SA220, but if your monitors are 22"+ you need to ask for an upgraded clamp mount (heavy duty).

I like them, because that way the space under the monitors is not wasted. Currently I have my laptop (primary computer) sitting there in the docking station. Also a lamp, and some papers. It really clears up a lot of space on your desk.

this is what im looking at right now, need to step my game up

Took the pic on my iphone, thats what its so tiny

I've got my already ancient Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop and my auxiliary is a simply gorgeous Acer. Both have a simple, but awesome design with the traditional characters for the first line of the Tao Te Ching as my background. Of course, both screens are packed full of windows.

2 x 25.5" Samsungs on my desktop.
2 x 22" LEDs on my secondary desktop.
1 x 22" Samsung connected to a 14" notebook
1 x 15.4" Notebook

Secondaries are used for random purposes. Scraping content, torrents, botting, friends and employee use, checking my facebook status on 4 different computers because it makes me feel cool...

And the answer is... two.

One to work and one connected to the camera right above me to watch my ol' grandpa meatspin my dirty ass****.
