How To Stay Up To Date?

I am trying to figure out a good way to stay up to date with the things I want to be "in the know" about. I have tried Google Reader, Twitter, AllTop, Affbuzz, and Pulse, but nothing seems to work the way I want it. Every method involves just too much filtering of information I don't want or don't care to hear about. I am looking for a daily/weekly/monthly, cliff notes version of news and information I want to heart about.

There is over 24 hours of new information, news, blog posts, etc to read put out every day, and I only have 45 mins or so to keep up.

What do you do to stay up to date on tech news, social media, startups, search engine marketing, advertising news, affiliate marketing, blogs, and whatever else in the shortest amount of time possible?

Just read the posts here in the STS, of course!

Srsly, I use Feedly in Chrome and subscribe to very specifically-targeted feeds. That does the job for me.

For a small fee of $250/week I will pick through each and every bit of info online and manually filter what I feel is most important to you and your opinion, needs, desires and pass it onto you.

Bump it up to $500 and I may even give you a backrub too.

Hacker News is legendary for startup/tech news.

Mixergy has high-value interviews with startups, often young kids. Startups are particularly interesting because their business models are replicable and often take advantage of trends.

Reddit.com is pretty much a Pandora of news and random shit alike. Pay heed to the subreddit system for maximum utility.

And Warrior forum is a good resource for aging scam practices that work on naive people that consider themselves tech savvy.

I suppose if you REALLY wanted to do it right, write a quick app to filter Google Alerts to specific criteria like length, sources, originality, etc... Then just subscribe all the keywords you care about... It could even route them to different pages to read for you.

"So where's that fruit salad you promised me for dessert?" asked FromUndaCheese with a smile. He was smart, attractive, and had a good sense of humor. Although this was only their first date, Sondra began to fantasize that perhaps this time, a relationship might work for her. She said "Just a sec, gotta chop up the pineapple!" and stepped into the relative privacy of the kitchen. From there, she could see the back of FromUndaCheese's head, and she began to smile. Her ovaries roared and bubbled inside of her, she knew what was coming. She squatted over the bucket that she had previously prepared, and lifted her sundress. The feeling was remarkable, complex, unique, and not altogether unpleasant. She felt a mix of pain and pleasure as it moved through her fallopian tubes. Her face contorted as she grunted. It only took a few minutes this time, but finally the pineapple dislodged itself and plopped out into the bucket. "I hope he likes fish with his fruit" she thought with a smile on her face. She knew he would.

Alright (0_o), if that is indeed your real name, these little novelesque Mad-Lib psycho snippets you've been posting lately are starting to make me worry for your mental health... They've certainly been degrading my own.

How the fuck do you Pronounce (0_o), anyway? :ticking:
