I'm using GoDaddy now, but I find myself getting annoyed with them. They make things way to complicated. I used Blue Host in the past, and I like them, but they are a bit pricer then I want to spend now.

Who do you use and would you recommend them?

Also, if your an affiliate, post a link, if I like them, I'll sign up using it.

I can't recommend them really cause I haven't used them...Yet.
But I'm switching my hosting over to hostgator this week. I think there's quite a few here that use them.

I don't have an aff link but I'm sure someone does.

I use hostgator but be carefull, if they make a mistake they will charge you for it and tell you to take it or go some place else! they don't take responsibility for there actions!

Yea, Hostgator, I've been looking at them too.
What are you looking for in a web host? Shared hosting, vps, dedicated, what? How important is customer service to you? Do you need a technical team to perform installs, backups, server maintenance?
Nothing too big at this point. I'm planning on a couple blogs and several landing pages, but don't need a dedicated, eventually I may grow into it. Customer Service is pretty important I guess, but really, if I can't figure something out, I know where to ask for help and I'm not looking to set up anything then a few basic pages. Backup and server maintenance, those are pretty normal basic services, aren’t they?

Lacking in customer service hu?

HostGator is reliable, but sometimes their support is lacking. I rarely need support, so this does not bother me.

BlueHost is also good, and is only 6.95/month so I can't really see why this is above your price range. Anything less than that is almost guaranteed to be shitty.

Their $6.95 a month plan ended up costing much more then $6.95 a month. It really wasn't out of my price range in as much as I was totally annoyed by how much it really cost.

Take a look at this: Free Premium Hosting

I personally like Lunarpages the best for shared hosts. Hostgator is okay, they've only shut my account off twice (without warning, of course). Servint is decent for VPS. And I've got a Liquidweb dedi server that works great.

Lot's to choose from out there.

That free year with Lunarpages looks pretty great. I've heard of Lunarpages, and folks talking about them seem to like them.

just sent an email to brent from host gator, I will let you know how he responds, I will not hold my breath as I bet he gets a ton of email!

I use etwebhosting.com for all my hosting. They are the company I sold my previous hosting business to. They are a bit more expensive than the others but the DO NOT compete on price with the others. For good reasons too. Their support is top notch. I had an assistant admin on my photography site go 'shit nuts' on me and delete a 12k image gallery. My buddies at ET had everything restored from nightly backups within 30 minutes.

If your site is making you lots of money, don't skimp on the host. Pay a few bucks more and get a quality host! I can't stress this enough.

Yeah their sign up page is a little deceiving. Their 12.95 package is only 12.95 if you pay for three years up front. Otherwise it's 14.95.

Still less than I'm paying now though so...

asmallorange.com is awsome, they have the best support i ve ever seen, and they are really cheap

Heck... I have some dedicated servers and I lease linux reseller accounts on them to various people for projects . All have have PHP5, MySQL5 and as of this weekend Apache 2.

PM me if you are interested in an account. I've got great support.

bluehost is nice, I used them for a year. Never had an issue so I never had to contact support.

I use hostgator now, there support was ok the last time i contacted them. No beefs from me.
