I'm generally very accepting of people to make their own choices, and follow whatever ideologies they wish, but some of you (ie. Dispel) coming in here and saying how perfect islam is just makes me shake my head.
First question, how well are the muslim countries doing guys? Name ONE muslim based country that is having any success in this century due to anything else beside their massive oil reserve, there isn't any.. They are mostly plagued with violence and oppression to force their population to believe in Islam.
Second, every time this violence is brought up, the muslims here pop up and say something like "oh gai's it izn't the religion!1!11 it'z the ppl who INTERPRET it wrong!11!!". Well let me ask you this then, how fucking hard is it to interpret this thing? Do you have to be albert einstein or stephen hawking to interpret it in a way that does not result in oppression, violence, non-acceptance of others, inequality between men/women & muslims/non-muslims, etc..? Because it sure looks to me that a large majority of muslims are interpreting it "wrong" according to you.
I can't see how someone can follow an ideology/religion that clearly states in its scriptures to "fight back" and is actually suggesting that there are situations where one should "kill" another human being. This kind of thing should never be left up to us to "interpret" and decide for ourselves when the correct time to murder is. We as humans are strongly pushed to make certain decisions based on emotions, and when there are people who have blind faith in an ideology that actually suggests there are times where murdering others is the right thing to do, we've got a problem.
This, among many others, is one of the reasons why I personally believe that Islam is a very flawed ideology.
