Have you ever thought about why these people are in need? We live in a nation where if you really try, you can get a job. It's not gonna be a fucking six-figure job, but hell, you can work at McDonalds, Subway, ANYWHERE. Who are these people in 'need'? Sluts who got knocked up? Homeless alcoholics? Bums who are too lazy to look for work?

Has anyone ever thought about who these nameless, faceless people in 'need' are? And why is it so hard for them to get a job, ANY job? Why do those of us who DO work have to give them our money?

My mother used food stamps and other programs after she got divorced to support her two children (I was one of them) while getting her nursing degree. It was a temporary thing and she did what she had to do to support her family. She went on to work 20+ years in healthcare and is now retired.

So there you go, I am a direct product of the "system". I have a 6-figure job, put myself through school, family, etc, etc . . .

Would I have turned out differently without those programs? Dunno, but it's not much of a stretch to justify stealing when you are hungry all the time.

But see, your mindset isn't aligned here.

Government doesn't fund anything. The people fund everything. The government merely does the collecting and handing out. They are simply a middle man but one with a billy club, making them more like an extortionist.

The government has two limited functions. Protection (not aggression) of liberty and enforcement of the law (contract and property rights). Those are all that need to be funded, insofar as the government needs any funding. Period.

Going further, if it is wrong to steal, then it is wrong for a bunch of voters to vote the government to steal for them. What is given freely is charity. What is taken by force, by definition, is theft. It doesn't matter if it is "legal" if the law is unjust.

Very clear points. I would agree with you. It is our money, they work for us, so how do you put the genie back in the bottle?

Take their power away and turn it back into a true representative democracy.

The irony of the first TARP package going through, and most of the congress people saying "This is going to cost me my job". They should be fired for being part of the system that caused the problem in the first place.

You are just completely wrong. There may be times the 'oh people are just lazy' argument is at least conceivable, but right now you must be in a godamn alternate universe if you believe that.
I know these people. They're not alcoholics. They're not bums. And on behalf of them, please go fuck yourself with a vibrator covered in razor wire.

QFT. That pretty much sums it all up right there.
Stay the hell out of my life and my wallet!

"OH SHIT. WE'RE THUPER FUCKED."

Dude, I don't think you'll find anyone on here who supports the bailouts. No American does.

That's quite a bold statement. I support the bailouts and think that letting Lehman go under was fucking retarded. Most people worth listening to agree that Lehman's failure made the crisis spread like wildfire across the globe.
Now's not really the time to get all uber responsible fiscally. The republicans had 6 years to be fiscally responsible but opted for retardedness instead. The only time they seem to stand by their principles(or have principles) is when they're not in power. They define themselves by their opposition to the dems.
I don't think letting our entire financial system burn is worth it just to prove a point.
All the anger should be directed towards the politicians and regulators(or lack thereof) who failed to provide a decent system of regulation rather than the "greedy" people on wall street. Greed is good when there are proper parameters.

I love how I keep hearing about how the bonuses have to be paid due to contractual obligations - If AIG had failed and gone into bankruptcy, they would have been thrown into a legal situation where they could, and would break contracts (that would've screwed the entire economy in the process, but it's just an example). Why no provision was included in the TARP to allow them to break certain contracts, is beyond me.

Because the banks through their central bank cartels, own and run every government in the world.

They start the wars, they invent new taxes, they create the debt, and they pick the candidates.

I'm so fucking sick about hearing people bitch and moan about AIG bonuses.

The company got over 175 BILLION... 125 million is NOTHING compared to that number.

Sure, maybe they shouldn't have received them right now... but the real reason why they talk about it all fucking day in the news is because people are pissed they make more money than them. That is really what it's all about.

People don't look up to rich people these days. Instead, they are just jealous fucking cunts who want to tax the fuck out of you.

And the reason were in this economic downturn is because of the people who are currently bitching about AIG bonuses.

These are the poor fuckers who sit on there ass all day receiving welfare checks, food stamps, don't pay taxes and getting fucking free medical health.

Agreed. I've had my car keyed twice recently and the only likely reason is jealously from the country's degenerates.

I have even felt that some think keying a car is a warranted vigilante attack against people with more money, which is similar to people's hate towards bankers' bonuses.

I doubt the majority of people even care about the economy; it's just jealously and the mob-mentality of following the media.

EQUAL BLAME - PHIL GRAHAM AND REPUBLICAN DEREGULATION HAS EQUAL OR MORE RESPONSIBILITY
Deregulation is not the problem. The regulators did not enforce the regulaiton still on the books.

You're missing the point again. Right and left is a false paradigm meant to distract people from seeing that government corruption is a bi-partisan effort. Bush and Clinton are buddies but the right and left try to portray them as vicious enemies. The big fucking joke is on the little guy who thinks his one vote in 50 million ballots means anything, and even if it did, the candidates you can choose are pre-selected because they all agree with the fundamental premise of war, debt, taxes and power.

There is no CHANGE because meaningful change is not on the ballot.

Was just coming back in here to comment and clarify to that point. These guys are the tools (both parties) being used to give the impression there is a choice, when fact of the matter, there really isn't.

I wonder why folks don't question the campaign donations going to people in both parties. Like Lehman gave money to Obama and McCain. Does the difference in amount really mean anything? Nope. Most business are going to be donating to both sides to ensure the business interest is met, not the people's.

My post up here was just to point out that both sides are screwing us, and thinking one side or the other isn't, is putting the blinders on.

I'm with ya - G.

I was strolling over some Thomas Jefferson quotes to put here because I had nothing witty to say myself and after reading 20+, I could of posted all of them. It's crazy how things change but fundamentally they all stay the exact same.

Here's a few I liked,

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Too late.

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.
Too late.

The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.
I can't imagine how many people only follow the MSM, but I'd wage that a large percentage of Americans fall in the the "worth nothing" category.

God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.
Oops, too late also, the people who would put up a resistance are being injured and killed in other countries with no shred of importance to the future well being of the USA.
