Scientist are saying no:

“I do not think this is related in any way to the asteroid 2102 DA14! For one thing, this occurred about 16 hours before DA14 passes. At 8 kilometers per second that’s nearly half a million kilometers away from DA14. That puts it on a totally different orbit.”

The metorite burst in air (At least part of it did) at around 65,000 or so feet in the air due to the aerodynamic heating.

This meteorite was likely a non-metal one which can happen, causing airbursts. The videos are pretty clear - You can see the large plume expand, then suddenly get much smaller. This typically means that it burst in air.

Most estimates I've seen online seem to indicate this was a multi-kiloton explosion. The damage from flying glass you see is from the blast overpressure (The same as a nuclear bomb) blowing out everything.

Russia's got some crazy shit but they are by far the largest country on earth so statistically shit will hit them the most. They are 2x larger than Canada who is the next largest.
 
Why does this have to be made into a conspiracy hellblazer? Isn't it amazing enough that we live in a day and age where multiple people filmed a large meteorite impact and we got to watch it within minutes of it happening?

No one died so I chalk this event up to being 100% fucking awesome.

Vladimir Chuprov of Greenpeace Russia noted that the area where the meteor exploded was 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the Mayak nuclear storage and disposal facility, which holds dozens of tons of weapons-grade plutonium. He said the Russian government has underestimated potential risks of the region.

A chemical weapons disposal facility at Shchuchye in the Chelyabinsk region contains some 6,000 tons (5,460 metric tons) of nerve agent including sarin and VX, accounting for about 14 percent of the chemical weapons that Russia is committed to destroy.

The timing with the other asteroid is pretty coincidental, especially if unrelated.

Nah, just kidding. I don't think there's a conspiracy. Pretty awesome thing to witness on film and glad it wasn't worse.

But I wouldn't be surprised if we've had Project Thor technology for decades now. I can understand why some people are suspicious. My first thought was "holy shit" and then "there's no way they shot a meteor down, wtf"? But that's been cleared up.
