Ehhh, the US should have their weapons grade laser technology available by now, and maybe even already installed on various ships.
Blast them little Iranian speedboats right out of the water.
Maybe nuclear powered submarines, but that thing above runs on diesel. I doubt it has a multiple month diesel fuel capacity.
Well, I'm fucking terrified.

Most of those simulations, like MC02, are somewhat out of date specifically because of what was learned from them. Though Iran could definitely inflict a surprising amount of damage, I highly doubt the US Naval fleet would be seriously threatened. Missile defenses are being established in the region so US and allied, "local" bases could be used in wartime, US drone assets are becoming seriously intimidating and fighters/bombers have some range these days. The fleet probably wouldn't even advance into the Persian Gulf until major opposition in the area was pretty well charred.

That's a Ghadir class mini submarine, they supposedly have 21 of those.

I'd sure like to see a link. You do realize that US carriers don't travel alone right? They are surrounded by destroyers and cruisers and submarines, never mind the squadrons of combat aircraft they can launch, with enough automated combined firepower to engage thousands of targets simultaneously. No fleet of speedboats is going to get anywhere near a US carrier. The biggest threat comes from shore based anti ship missiles but I'm quite sure the US knows the locations of every single one of Iran's launchers and would destroy them all in the initial volley of cruise missiles and air sorties at the first sniff of trouble.
As Netphase pointed out, US and Russian nuclear powered subs can stay down for months at a time, not so much small diesel powered mini subs. Those mini subs also aren't going to have any anti sonar capabilities and will show up like beacons on the sub hunters screens.

You don't think they learned some lessons from that? There's now a cordon around any US warship in port. There's also a slight difference between a ship that's not on alert in (what is supposed to be) a friendly port, and ships operating under wartime conditions in the Straight of Hormuz.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say I think the US military knows Iran has speed boats.
I could be wrong, but I think there's a chance the US military does know about this technology, and has measures in place to protect itself.
