Is it really possible for a woman to be smart?

so this chick I have been hanging around with has been having some computer problems which I fixed last night so today she sends me a message about her cd drive not showing up in vista and how she fixed it to which she responded with

I had to go to "regedit" and go to hkey local machine, system, current control set find the reg key and delete the upper and lower filters then restart

This pretty much shocked the shit out of me as I have never heard of a woman actually fixing a registry issue let alone a computer problem. She says she figured it out on her own (she is a woman so another guy doing it is within the realm of possibility).

Is it really possible for a woman to think like a man? Are there really women out there that have reasoning skills that are founded on facts and not emotion? Are there more women that have these ability's or is this just a testament to googles search relevancy ?

<<--Always fixes her own computer.

And my parents computer, and my grandma's computer, and occasionally those of random family friends in a bind...

There are a LOT of dumb girls (guys, too), and even more girls who practice ridiculous amounts of learned helplessness. If you assume they're all like that, though, you'll have a hard time attracting the ones who actually use the brains they were given.

ok, you're definitely trolling now.

But yes, I do. A lot of them. I'm married to one for starters.

So if she had to, your saying your wife would be willing to edit her registry? If that's the case you have found a keeper. It has not been my experience to run across a single woman in my life that would even attempt something like this. If this is common place than I guess this calls into question my whole outlook on women.

This thread is definitely not geared towards you or Turbo, in fact this girl reminds me of both of you (the exception to the rule)

I don't really WANT a woman who can edit her own registry, I'd rather have a girl who knows her way around some technologies that I am not inclined to learn how to use.

It's not an either/or kind of thing. Totally possible to troubleshoot your laptop on the kitchen counter while fixing dinner and running a load of laundry.

Of course - she's a molecular biologist. Registry editing isn't exactly a big deal to her.

I was making a joke there. Truthfully though, I don't need someone in my life who has the exact same skill set I do. I think the differences there create opportunities to be useful to each other. Isn't the whole relationship idea supposed to be enriching?

I don't think redundant skill sets are all that interesting or enriching.

That being said, brava to you if you can do all of those things at once.

I think that it simply comes down to the fact that MOST girls spend more time thinking about how they look and worrying about what everyone thinks of them than using their brain for important things.

Girls can ofcourse be good at anything they want to, such as Stefanie but i'm sure she has girlfriends that are better than her in other areas.

My wife can use the computer, but not do anything advanced.

I know guys that are just the same.

At one point quite a while ago I was doing customer support, the dumbest call I ever got was from a southern american. He was having problems creating a poker account on the site. After explaining what the start button was and helping him get his account setup he called back about 10 min later.

He said he was trying to make a deposit and couldn't figure it out. I asked him what he didn't understand and he explained that he was putting the money in the computer and it wasn't showing up in his account. I said to him what do you mean putting money in the computer. He said yes you know the thing that comes out, I put money in there and it won't take it, as when I open it up and it's still there!

Now if only you could work out how to not use ten rolls of toilet paper a week...
