Watching the returns and there are some big swings. Obama carried Virginia by 6 points, and it just swung 25 in the other direction. New Jersey looks like it swung 15-20 points the other way.

Speaking of Virginia, they went 3-for-3.

The 23rd NY race is really interesting too. Hoffman looks like he's got it.

I don't think these victories are really about Republicans per se so much as they are about rejecting Obama. People will interpret the results however they want, but however you see it, this is a big swing in the other direction, especially New Jersey, which hasn't elected a Repub in years.

I'd say Obama just lost the Blue Dogs, and with it his healthcare plan.

Um, people that are interested in current events and politics. Not to mention those that are interested in the direction of the country. Why waste the time responding if you don't care?

Why? Obviously I'm board, or slacking, or both. Probably both.

However I fail at the point of caring about pretty much anything, especially politics. Big woop, some dudes get electeded, they suck it up, everyone then starts voting the other way.

Lather rinse, repeate. Welcome to politics.

Not that it matters it's all really the same shit deep down no matter which side of the ball your on. Fuck Democrat, fuck Republican, fuck politics. There's nothing you can do about it.

Apparently people think this Hoffman guy is a step away from the republican party neoconservatism, but yet it's the same old thing. "Hurr I'm a fiscal conservative, but my real agenda is to ban abortion and get rid of queers!"

Hoffman's primarily talked about lowering taxes and creating jobs. Not sure where you get the rest from, and it would take the Supreme Court to 'ban' abortion. Considering he was a nobody 30 days ago, it's pretty remarkable that he got Scozzafava to drop out and now actually has a chance to win it.

Chris Christie winning NJ won't change anything - NJ will still be fucked. There's really no way of getting out of the deep shit the state has gotten in over the past few decades, from both parties. No logical solution can fix the problem due to the way politics work in NJ, and due to how contracts have been set up. It really doesn't matter what positions either candidate has, they can't get shit done. Corzine's plan to sell a lease to operate the NJ Turnpike to a private company, or to create a new non-profit to get rid of the Turnpike Authority both would have benefited tax payers, but neither democrats, republicans, or residents liked the idea. "Un-socializing" an asset was opposed by republicans - WTF?

Corzine burned a lot of bridges with the public employee unions in NJ by breaking their contracts, forcing furlough days, and some similar cost-saving methods, but it was unpopular. Hmm, sounds like a good idea to lower the state's defecit (unless you're a state worker, or a die-hard liberal), but it's extremely unpopular. Anything a governor can do to fix the fucked up state of the state's finances will kill any chances of re-election.

Divisions in the government in NJ are not run by people with experience - It's all political appointees, few with management experience, who are forced to write un-dated letters of resignation whenever an administration changes. How about running a state like a business, only hiring people who are best for the job, and not having turnover every administration change? Oh wait, it's NJ, and regardless of party, there's corruption and nepotism rampant.

"creating jobs" - more meaningless rhetoric. End the Federal Reserve, not just lower but eliminate certain taxes, and get rid of government agencies and programs. That will really stimulate the economy and help businesses hire people. Keep government out of people's lives - who really gives a fuck if gay people get married? The "sanctity of marriage" was gone once the divorce rate hit 50%. Look up Hoffman's beliefs on gay marriage and abortion, he's said them himself.

From the article you linked to :

"A plurality of voters in both states cited the economy as their top concern, according to early exit polls. Majorities in both states said Obama's job performance was not a factor in their vote."

And who do you think is running the national economy? Who do you think signed the stimulus? Who do you think is creating a 'jobless' recovery?

People are rejecting Obama's economic policies by drastically swinging in the other direction. They are terrified in the White House right now - Obama is probably chewing his nails off. His healthcare bill, and with it probably his presidency - just went down in flames.

Jobs are created by allowing businesses to retain more of their profits, thereby allowing them to re-invest more back into their company. I don't disagree with your suggestions, although I highly doubt ending the Federal Reserve is a politically feasible task right now. But I agree with you that there are a lot of garbage government programs we should kill, along with punitive, excessive taxes. The people can spend their money better than the government.

good enough for me

good enough for me

Who really gives a fuck what gay people do? Are two gay guys getting married and having a good marriage for 30+ years going to suddenly decide to put it up your butt? No. It doesn't matter what people do. If anything, they'll have to go through the same shit straight people do with divorce. Hoffman is a RINO in sheep's clothing, and an endorsement from Sarah Palin just proved it.

Vote for libertarian Republicans, and Libertarians. Make a real difference.

For these two, our unconstitutional Federal Reserve and the racket that they control the treasury with.

Which is run by Obama's stooges, Bernanke and Geithner. But don't forget the 3.5% GDP growth was powered almost entirely by government spending, which was derived from Obama signing the stimulus bill.

Wait wait wait. Bernanke was put in place by BUSH. The stimulus bill was a piece of shit but we wouldn't have gone through this recession in the first place if it wasn't for the Fed's bullshit.

Yeah, right!
