LCD, LED, Plasma, FUCK! I just want a new TV

every television (7) in my house is Samsung, you cant beat them on quality really.

As far as tech, I prob wouldnt do 3D, but I would for sure go LED.

LED is LCD. It can save on your power bill (and if you are the green type). Also, the pictures are slightly better.
Go to a physical store before purchase and look at the models before you order it online.. Even in the same brand, different models perform differently. The colors, sharpness etc vary from worst to best.
Also, look for something that can read the SD cards, USB sticks and can play divx movies.
I just bought a panasonic LED one. Its good so far..

Plasma = Heavier, bigger. Richer colors. Sucks in well lit rooms because of the glare.

LCD = Lighter, thinner. Washed out colors. No glare problem on matte screen

LED LCD = Super light, thin. Rich colors like plasma. No glare problem.

I bought my plasma for gaming, the reaction times are so much faster, the colors are so much better; black is black instead of dark grey, white is white etc.

That is against old LCD sets man...there is a reason why a 50 inch plasma is under 1K.

LED in IMHO. Much thinner and better colors. Honesty just go to the store and look at the wall of tv's and you can usually spot the better ones by how the colors are rendered. Next thing is look at the refresh rate. Most LED's are pushing over 240Hrtz refresh rate which cuts down on motion blur in sporting events.

plasmas have better picture quality and viewing angles. go to best buy or something and look at them all. panasonic specializes in plasmas i believe.

Mike, while I have no clue about tvs what so ever.... and the only problem might be that someone has just hacked your cable and the old tv is totally fine... I sincerely offer to do your $2000 purchase through my Amazon affiliate link :rasta:!

Who gives a shit how thin the device is? Its not like you're carrying the thing around with you all day

Haha this. When you're fucking looking at it it's all the same. I have a 46" Samsung LCD, it's OK. It's a bitch to adjust, auto motion/clear motion or whatever the fuck it's called is a horse a piece. If you want things to look good you're probably going to have to throw it all the way on it's highest settings just to get rid of the ridiculous ghosting. This in itself leads to the "soap opera effect". Once you get use to it it's no big deal, but things look a lot more real, more like your there.

A friend of mine has a 55" Panasonic plasma, and I think his looks better than mine IMHO and that will probably be the way I go next time.

As for 3D, don't know, never used it. Seems like a big fucking scam to lock you in and get you to buy their overpriced 3D glasses.

I really want a Google TV by Sony. I like the idea of being able to connect to netflix and rent movies off of Amazon all straight from my TV. It eliminates the need for cable or a DVD player.

We've had a Sony 42" LCD for a few years and I love it. If I had to get one now, I'd go with an LED, possibly with 3D.

The geeks at avsforums cream over the Panasonic GT / VT series picture quality. Both are 3D plasma.

I’m getting a 42" GT when I can’t tolerate the old school CRT any longer.

Samsung LED is probably the best. But you can get an LG or Sony LED for considerably less.

I got a 37 inch LG LED for $550 a few months ago, but have already seen some better prices, so it seems like the prices for TVs are still falling quite fast.

I believe with plasma after a while you have to change the bulb in it? Not 100% sure about that, but I think the bulbs can be a little expensive and dealing with that is probably a pain.

I had a line of dead pixels on my LG a few weeks after I got it. Might have been from a lightning storm or something, not sure. Had to get a new panel in it. (Was still under warranty so it was free.) So obviously the quality doesn't seem to be as good as a samsung.

You should be able to get a really nice huge samsung led tv for around $1k, I wouldn't spend much more than that imo. 3D is also dumb imo.

Check techbargains.com and slickdeals.net for good deals.

I've got a 60" LG Plasma flat panel TV & it's amazing! The color & picture quality is amazing, especially watching HD video. It's a beautiful thing. That's my experience anyway.

Is that real? Hot damn. What brand is that? Looks like it would be too thin to even be mounted, lol
But when mounting only requires a tiny bit of scotch tape at the corners... ;)

LED LCD. Vizio is okay; Samsung better.

3D will be found to be harmful to people's brains within a couple more years... It's just not natural and gives about 35% of all users headaches. (And there just isn't enough testing on why exactly.)

I've had two LCD's or Plasma's (not even sure) burn out on me in the last 3 years. FUCK

Next purchase will most likely be a 3D tv

This is the best TV I have purchased considering price and quality... I have always bought name brands samsung,LG, or Toshiba and this one has definitely been my favorite. The clarity was awesome and it was only a whompy 8 hundo's go check one out.
