Yesterday I got inspired to start promoting some zip submits from Copeac. I have a few questions, and I figure there are other people with questions, so I figured I'd start a thread that people can learn from. Hell, I'll even post my stats if you guys want to follow along.
So far I've got 20 clicks and no conversions. I know it's a small sample, but I'd guess I need to change some things up.
FWIW, I'm running landing pages to the Iphone zip on Copeac.
I've got two campaigns set up, and both of them are targeting very general search terms.
The first campaign is costing me 20 cents a click right now. So far it's got 13,000 impressions today, I'm averaging the #4 spot, have 15 clicks and no conversions. Google says my QS is great, but they're hitting me with 20 cent minimum bids. I figure I'll ride it out for awhile and see if I can't improve the QS/CTR and get some cheaper clicks.
The search terms that I'm bidding on are very broad. I don't want to post the niche, since I think it can be profitable with other offers if the zips don't work out, but it'd be similar to bidding on "Paris Hilton Jail" back when there was a media frenzy over that, so lets just assume that's the traffic I'm targeting.
My adwords ad says something along the lines of
Should Paris Go To Jail?
Your Opinion Is Important!
Vote Now And Get A Free Iphone.
www.mysite.com/paris
When they get to the landing page, it's an exact copy of the iphone landing page, except it says:
Your Opinion Matters!
Should Paris Go To Jail?
Yes No <both just links to the iphone offer
Important, Enter Your Zip On The Next Page To Recieve Your Iphone!
Then they go to the offer, and so far, no conversions.
So, for you experienced guys. Should I target more specific search terms? I figure if people are smart enough to realize the poll is just an ad, they wouldn't click on the adwords ad in the first place.
Should I keep it going and see if I can't get any cheaper clicks? Is running this campaign at .20 a click insane? Any advice? I'll keep this updated.
Thanks,
-Scott
