Liberal

Okay lets take a opinion - I am super conservative when it comes to Money / Government Having No Business Messing up in MY BUSINESS (why should I pay for bums and good for nothing assholes with my taxes) and I am super liberal when it comes to Religion (I DON't WANT IT) AND how to live my life. I don't give a shit about homos, abortion or Church-Fags / Mosque-Fags / Temple-Fags.

What does that makes me in your yank-fag lingo?

Welcome to our Libertarian club!

Right now supporting GOP is generally the best bet for advancing libertarian ideas, just because they want to stop Democrats who are all about growing government. Of course GOP's libertarian faction is constantly at war with the religiously conservative wing, but on the balance it is the distaste with Big Government that is fueling Republican comeback. None of this excuses GOP's pathetic screwups and expansion of government under Bush.

and to anyone who claims Ron Paul isn't a conservative, and they claim they themselves are "Reagan Republicans" - Know who convinced Reagan to run for President?

"Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country."
-Ronald Reagan

Paul was critical of Reagan's deficit spending and other issues, saying he strayed from his campaign and support of the Barry Goldwater movement though.

Ron Paul is a classic liberal/libertarian. The classic liberals were enlightenment era thinkers like Voltaire and Thomas Hobbes, Adam Smith and Montesquieu. Jefferson, Madison and Franklin were all considered enlightenment era thinkers, and thus classic liberals.

libertarianism (small L) has nothing to do with politics whatsoever. It is a social philosophy loosely based around "live and let live". That is, don't mess with my body, my stuff or the fruits of my labor and we'll get along just fine.

I think I have linked to this before. This is the basics of libertarianism/liberalism. It explains in simple terms how property (properly conceived) is necessary for economic liberty, and without economic liberty, there is no civil liberty.

Are the typical so-called "liberals" any better? Well, hell no. But most of the people bashing liberals also enjoy big government, massive spending, adventurism, nanny-statism, with a little racism/gay bashing mixed in.

I always love when lib's try to constantly nail in the race card to the Conservative ideology. What's funny is you usually only need 1 quick visit the front page of cnn.com to find a liberal being outright racist, utilizing race for personal or political gain, race-baiting, or employing divisive or unnecessary race tactics.

Oh, case in point HARRY REID, front and center cnn.com right now:

Reid apologizes for racial remarks about Obama during campaign - CNN.com

Lib's make me sick. Go on, talk ethics, then go abort some more babies.

Surely if, according to the US definition, you're a conservative and hence in favour of small government and against state intervention- why would you be against abortion?

because "religious conservatism" has infiltrated political conservatism

Why do you so strongly feel the need to label one another?

The last president left the country in worse shape than the guy before him, and that guy left the country in worse shape than the guy before him, and so and and so forth. Why should this president do any different? It's not like Bush left office with the books in the black and the chart trending upwards.

They're all the same.

Progressivism is not liberalism. You are a progressive, and for some reason I still like you. :)
