Mad Max

Wow! It's as if the original 1979 dystopian epic decided to increase the violence, succumb to the CGI zeitgeist, neuter itself, and pander to Hollywood's feminist gestapo.

I see the future...

...and it looks subtly emasculated.

This film... what's taking so long :(

not released until at least May 2015.. ffs

As an Aussie that grew up with the original Mad Max, I'd have to draw the line at this one. It just doesn't seem right at all. I still love that car though, and I think every Aussie male of my generation wanted the "last of the V8 interceptors" that Max Rockatansky drove.

If I can convince myself that it isn't just a poor attepmt at recapturing a franchise, simply to make some money on its name, I may watch it. I doubt it though.

Looks to me like another overly produced, overly hyped POS movie with actors you've never seen before. There's probably also going to be a shitty game attached to it as well.

The original had grit. This new iteration looks way too clean to be able to pull that off.

What was it about the trailer that gave you a nerdgasm? To me it felt hollow and cheesy, and probably gave me cancer.

There probably will be a shitty game attached to it. In fact, you can preorder it now if you like. (I have no doubts it will be crap, but hey, they might surprise us).

How well known was Mel Gibson in the first movie? He'd only been acting for 3 years at that point, and most people had never seen him before. They even dubbed over his voice for the export release FFS. Was that a good experience for you? I didn't really enjoy the movie until I saw the original, but to be honest, the second and third movies were much more visually impressive, and the quality of acting was improved as well. Special effects were coming on in leaps and bounds in the early 80s.

I was entertained. What's to say this one can't be equally as entertaining?

WTF is it with all of you? You want everything filmed through a dirty sock to give it a realistic patina? I think the production and effects look pretty superb.

Sucks to be you.

Might be shit.. but might not be. It's got the original creator or something working on it.. so it's got a chance.

It's movies like this that make me hate CGI. Just because you can use it, doesn't mean you should.

Like every other action movie that comes out of Hollywood these days, this one looks overdone and over-directed.

Reminds me of this:

Shame, they could really work with such a franchise. But it couldn't be anything too big budget, or it would go all Hollywood bullshit.

Ditto on the lack of grit and the hallow, cheese feel I got from the preview.

You want to watch an old school movie that is intense and brilliantly filmed? Recently remastered, "Sorcerer". Wikipedia this shit - very interesting. 1977 no CGI, 22 million to make back then. Might not hold you from the beginning, but stick with it.

I think I remember seeing this a long time ago on cable...and liking it. Will have to check that out.
