McCain's Choice Is.....

It's not hard to understand, but it's not the complete picture. I.E. if large portions of middle class families can't afford luxuries it also cuts in the economy. Point being, it is NOT JUST THE RICH that provide jobs. If the middle class and other income classes aren't buying shit it means less jobs as well...

It's about balance.

Agreed, The economy rests in the hands of middle & upper class. $25M yachts are not the only thing powering our economy (it's really just an example). There is a balance and it's mostly about luxury items, things that aren't food, clothing & shelter.

You won't hear an argument from me about the middle class and small businesses being overlooked ... we (yes I'm included there) push a huge portion of our economy and account for large chunks of what little growth is happening.

This conversation is about robbing from the rich and giving to the poor ... not the middle class. If this pillaging happens, the sheeple will be happy short term ... then they will all lose jobs and our economic meltdown happens faster than Al Gore can say global warming.

Look at the graph below that someone posted. The middle class is almost exactly the same with either party in office, the only noteworthy difference being upper and lower classes. This is the real difference between asses & elephants.

2 scary things I need to point out.

1> under $66k represents 60% of tax payers yet the only person the democrats have put in office in over 2 decades is Bill Clinton. If this is true then why doesn't the lower class own the presidency?

answer: ignorance & irresponsibility, which leads me to ...

2> if extra tax money is in the hands of 1 group, which would be the most beneficial for America?

The correct answer is middle class but since we don't have that option ... I certainly don't want to put the fate of America's dollar in the hands of the ignorant and irresponsible. They won't open businesses, they won't invest & they won't save. They will just spend frivolously (short term boom, more of the same long term). This is what we are seeing from these little tax breaks that Bush has given ... They provide no real substance for growth.

If I have to choose one or the other I choose the rich. It hasn't worked out so bad for America so far.

In closing ... the middle class & small businesses had a representative, his name was Ron Paul and he got laughed off the stage by 95% of America. He was a true Republican, an economist and a doctor. He was not a politician!

FUCK ALL YOU SHEEPLE WHO DID THIS TO OUR COUNTRY!!! Now we're choosing from the lesser of 2 evils again ... but fear not, common sense will rise again!

What has a bigger effect on the economy - a rich dude that can't afford a $25 million yacht, or higher gas prices that prevent millions of people from driving more, going on vacations and spending money all over the country?

It's laughable to say that the rich drive the economy... you're a moron. Do you even know why the economy grew at a greater than expected 3.3% in the second quarter

...

Individuals with adjusted gross income of up to $75,000 who paid federal income tax will receive a $600 rebate.

zero's is right, you are an idiot. But that's ok, because they don't teach economics to children until Senior year of HS (which is a mistake) ... you'll be taught about this in a few years. Consider this thread a crash course until that time.

So tell me, how many new businesses did you open up with your $600? Anyone? What? Not 1 single business? Why is this?????

$600 is not shit and you can barely start a website with this money, you definitely can't open a brick & mortar or even start a decent PPC campaign. That money was given to you to make you shut up about gas prices, it is not meant to really push the economy. Laughable indeed that you don't get this.

I do however appreciate you noting that these merciful tax breaks are coming from a Republican white house. Though I totally disagree with everything you have said.

Because it's apparent that Obama's plan is going to put much more money in the hands of those who are the real drivers of the economy, not the richest 1% as in the case of McCain's tax plan.

So who is going to do better things with their money Sergei Brim & Larry Page or the ditch diggers & burger flippers of America? (rhetorical question, please don't disgrace yourself and answer it)

At some point, rich Americans need to put country first, or there won't be a country left.

Taxes are good for rich people. It provides an infrastructure to keep poor an less fortunate people living in almost acceptable conditions, which makes them less likely to put a gun in your face and take all your shit by force.

Pay the taxes. Don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

Economics is more complex than you seem to think.

palinomics to the rescue

Both have a big effect to answer your question, however I don't see any real answer to stabilizing gas prices or ending our dependency on middle eastern countries coming from Hussein Obama.

Hmmm, and just think of all the help this gives the US economy if Alaska is now as rich as the middle east .......... wouldn't it be ironic if gas is the thing that gets us out of this rut.

I hope you don't think Alaska is the next Saudi Arabia...

They sure do make a failed couple... As Hurricane Katrina was blowing into New Orleans... "Oh fuck em'... let's celebrate with birthday cake! Em' cake yum!" - what a bunch of hypocrites these two fools are, now they're trying to act like they give a shit about NOLA.... that's believable...yep.sure.ok!

Reading this truly makes sense to me now. You are one socialistic mofo for sure. I put ME first, just as every gun wielding piece of ghetto trash would.

Telling me to give up my money or lose it to a poor person with a gun is probably the worst piece of 'logic' you have ever written here. Screw them. If they are willing to roll the dice and pull a gun to my face, I am sure they won't even live long enough to regret that decision.

It doesn't have to be, we only have 300+ million people & nobody believes that oil is a permanent solution. There's plenty of resources up there to support us until something alternative can be used for power, even if that takes 50 years.

There is no question that alternative fuels should be looked for either way.

Gas is all about supply and demand (more economics lessons for you democrats & HS kiddies). If you want to blame someone for increased prices, blame china or india and their billions of people who are wanting to drive. By opening up Alaska for our exclusive use, we can stabilize prices short term while looking for other solutions. That our crude oil is at the mercy of the same arabs that hate our guts spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Though it's really hard to blame them for raising prices if other countries will pay more, I hear the UK is paying like $6/gallon ... which is almost double what I'm paying in Arkansas.

Thank you for reminding me that Bush caused hurricane Katrina. I keep forgetting about that one.

1. I like the way you lead your post with the idiot icon

2. 2 years of lurking and this is what you bring to the table?

3. I like cake too, does that make me a hypocrite?

4. too many .... ellipses ... make for a long ... ass run-on ... sentence.

To sum it up: You need to bring your A game to WickedFire, if you have no valid points past "they like cake" you should go back to lurking ... it's a good fit for you.

I'm totally open for a legit democratic argument and debate ... but there seems to be less and less logic coming from that side of the table these days.

Guys, I hate the Republicans that are running the show now, I'm an easy convert to your side if you can just convince me that you are right. I simply don't see it though.

That shows that you don't have the slightest idea of how capitalism works. Or would you suggest the government regulate that?

You speak for many I am sure but the fact remains if the Dems ever start showing signs of supporting any conservative ideals, they would surely get abandoned by their core liberal supporters.

Well, you bring a valid point, it did made me stop and think. It does assumes however that poor people are of no use to the economy and just sit on their hands. I think this is true to some extent relatively speaking. But like it is right now it's out of balance in my opinion, taking away a lot of opportunity from more then just the poor as a result.

I live in the Netherlands and the poor are well taken care of here, at the same time our economy has always been very healthy compared to other industrialized countries. So this proves that it can be done. Yes, it does come with the sacrifice of having to pay high taxes. But hey, the system works! It's a healthy climate for both businesses, the less fortunate and everyone in between.

The US has always leaned more towards entrepreneurship in particular which is fine, but the Bush/McCain policies have thrown this way overboard, not to mention they have retarded judgment in other areas as well. What good is a tax cut if you can't keep you finger off the trigger and jump right into war without practicing strong diplomacy? It's a weakness that the people are now paying for.

When did it become allright in our country to steal from the rich and give to the poor. This is a fairly new concept to our country. One of the reasons we guerilla-fucked Great Britain was because they were placing more and more taxes on us. Why is the left so eager to move backwards. Why are they so eager to follow ideas that have failed over and over again in countries all over the world.

Handing money to poor people will only enslave them to the government. A strong economy will give them the chance to turn off Springer and go to a decent job everyday.

As far as I am concerned, those that don't want to work can starve.

Hold on a second!................OK I was just making sure I was still on Wickedfire and not Moveon.org

Too many handouts promote laziness.

I agree, and too many tax cuts for the rich decrease opportunity the the rest.

Future will tell, I put my money on Obama. I think he has better judgment and will be better able to adjust to the circumstances. We've already seen the Bush/McCain way...

You're wrong there (as highlighted MANY times in this thread). You are ignorant to assume It's a zero-sum game. Someone doesn't have to lose for another to gain (if you don't get it, I can't help you).

Since you're so OK with giving money to the lazy poor, then why don't you put your money where your mouth is and become the new meal-ticket for them and give them all of your money. Let them all come by your house (for as long as you have it) and let them sponge off of you all they want. After all, I makes for a better society right?

Better yet, lets round up on the lazy American poor and ship them to the Netherlands. Since you guys are so damn compassionate, you can have them all.

There's a reason the US is a world superpower and your country is not. Self-reliance and ingenuity go a long way. You want to give them fish, personally I prefer to teach them how to fish so they can teach their kids and hopefully we will be more powerful as a country.

Future will tell, I put my money on Obama. I think he has better judgment and will be better able to adjust to the circumstances.

His better judgment places him in the association of William Ayers - a known terrorist
