Ever get that? The "money doesn't make you happy" line? And it's almost always from some woman who married a good guy, and hasn't had to actually work for her level of living.

Don't you just want to reach across the dinner table, and smack those people across the head?

Money doesn't make you happy. Bullllll... shitttt.

I know a couple people that are like this. They talk about money like it's a bad thing and that's because they've never had it and it probably scares the shit out of them. Plus, they're going off everything they've seen in the movies where the dad finally quits his high level job to coach the soft ball team and they all live happily ever after LOL

Money isn't a bad thing it's a great thing. It gives you the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want.

Well it's true to a certain extent.

Money doesn't buy you a family, real friends and real love.

However it's true that in today's hyper capitalist world, without money you can't do shit. You'll be depressed and bitter, which will gradually mess up your relationship with others and eventually make you very unhappy.

Has it made you happy?

Money gives you financial independence, but that in itself doesn't make you happy. It does make your life easier. If that is happiness for you, you must have very low standards of happiness.
But a lot of people do say that because they think money is evil.

Has it made you happy?

Yes. I've eaten my share of ramen noodles in life, and also had my share of being financially free enough to drop thousands in one night without worry, or have the freedom to wake up and just head to another country for no other reason than because I can.

I have to say, the latter makes me quite a bit happier.

Hello friends,

While have lot money doesn't guarantee you happy, having to little money will almost always make you unhappy.

I think all people will be more happy having to much money then to little money. Even if they no happy overall.

Good luck bros

I think once you reach a certain level of financial freedom, earning more money doesn't make you happier.

I've said this before, but I'd much rather work 10 hrs a week and earn substantially less and be able to enjoy the money that I do earn than work 70 hrs a week and earn more - but never have the time to spend it.

You guys keep enjoying being slaves to money, I'll going on enjoying the simple life.

I would say around $10-20k per mo is a level past which happiness increases very little. At this level you can buy virtually anything you want, except super luxury items. Once your basic needs of shelter, good quality food, sex (if you have to pay for it), security are met, not much you gotta work on yourself to get the rest.

Happiness is more a choice you make. You can choose misery or you can choose peace, contentment, acceptance of what is. The choice is yours.

there is this guy who lives down the road from me, is worth millions , lives in a million dollar house on the ocean that he owns outright, which his family gave to him

he sits inside his house drinking about 30 beers a day, chain smoking cigarettes

When I have been over at his house ( have a friend in common) he spends half his time either complaining or talking paranoid rants

If money can buy happiness this guy definitely does not know where to shop for it
