You gotta think about what you're teaching your kid if you can't trust dirty sleazy disgusting rapist killer cannibal males around them.
Men are 50% of society, men fuck up a whole lot, but they also contribute a whole lot to society. To have to marginalize them as a group based on media-peddled hysteria of "the evil man" is IMO more damaging to men, women and your kids than your constant helicopter supervision is helping.
I know the fears that come with parenting and the immense care you wish to exercise with your child, but you gotta consider the big picture too.
And which parenting book did you write? Telling another parent how to raise their children is pretty damn bold dude. Considering my children are not even 8 yet, I think keeping them away from men in their 20's, 30's and higher is perfectly acceptable.
When they are in high school and have a job and learn to drive, then I think they can make some choices on their own without much supervision. But if you wanna let your 8 year old hang around some dirty old men unsupervised, then go right ahead dude and be my guest.
It not like I tell my kids "hey you cant hang around him cause I think he is a rapist" or "little johnnie cant come over to play cause his daddy smokes pot". So they are not going to think men are evil when they get older. I can tell my kids that they cant spend the night at Pastor Dan's house and that be it. I dont need to explain to them why at 8 years old. To suggest that I dont let them go behind the bleachers alone with Pastor Dan and that marginalizes men and will fuck them up later in life is a true fail.

I've heard multiple muslims denounce terrorist acts. And especially average citizens that may be Muslim, most of the ones I've talked to think this type of act is horrendous.
Thankfully I am not Catholic (just Christian with Muslim friends viewing each person I meet on their own merits and behavior), so I don't have to think about how high up and broad in the Catholic Church child molestation was accepted and covered-up (not just a US problem!)
They should pick another religion in light of these events. Big deal, it's like learning another programming language or something...once you've learned one, you've basically learned them all. It might take some getting used to but serves the same purpose (giving the weaker people in society a sense of purpose, security, etc).

I don't accept people saying that they did something evil because God, their holy book, grand theft auto, rock music, etc made them do it. Religion is not an excuse for being evil, whether it is extremists who claim to be Muslims or Christians who hurt gays or whatever. Its not an excuse. You don't get to play that card and society would be a lot better if we checked people on it immediately instead of propagating bullshit. These guys aren't Muslims, they are murders. Saying most Muslims are not terrorists is like me saying most Americans are not lottery winners or murders. Even if there are 50,000 active muslim terrorists in the world (a pretty high estimate I'd hope you'd agree), that means 99.99% of Muslims are not terrorists and don't deserve to be looped into with those assholes. There were 660,000 murders in the US from 1960 to 1996 (36 years), does that mean most murderers are US citizens? Do you as a US citizen want to be associated with murderers?
