Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead.

Though I don't accept all of Rand's beliefs, I do agree with most of the principles presented in the books.
Let me guess, you're under 20?

Being a Randian is no way to go through life man. Seriously. She was an absolute crazy nutter, and if you seriously model your life around Objectivism then you'll never make anyone happy besides yourself (and it's extremely arguable that anyone who's not a sociopath or schizophrenic can be happy without making others happy).

And also:

Here's one, 80/20 Principle - Richard Koch. It's all about focusing on the stuff that matters... what contributes the most to the result you're trying to achieve and forgetting the rest or at least leaving it up to someone else!

(LMAO... this smilie takes the cake!)

haha, I agree with you. I worded my statement poorly. I'm no Randian, but I am 19.

I shouldn't have said most of the principles, but rather some of the most critical ones as in we are absolutely responsible for what we make of life, there is nothing wrong with being proud of one's accomplishments, achivement is a great thing, and there is grave danger when we start to promote mediocrity.

After that I don't really care about the rest of the philosophy and find it rather irrational and unpractical.

I said it was most influential because it got me to thinking about living more rationally. It also got me into reading books on odd (bizarre maybe) political and social theory and comparing parts to my own schema and perhaps modifying it.

How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie was the one which changed my thinking the most. Especially this line -

For every problem under the sun, there is either a solution or there isn't. If there is -- let's find it. Else, never mind it!

Street Smart Internet Marketing by Justin Michie was a good read. Expanded my approach to online biz.

[SIZE=-1]The Alchemy of Finance is one of my favorite books as well as Liars Poker which if read should be followed up with When Genius Failed. Another book I liked quite a bit was The Richest Man in Babylon.

How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie. The de-facto book for anyone in sales, marketing, or even trying to get laid on a regular basis.

Freakonomics, Steven Levitt. Great book to get your mind thinking outside of traditional supply and demand economics models and look for the big things that can have sweeping effects across large areas and over long periods of time.

Personally, Rich Dad Poor Dad was a letdown... Maybe I watch too much CNBC.

My Dad always had tapes of Think and Grow Rich.
I kinda liked the Motley Fool Investment Guide.
