No More Income Taxes in the US?!

Sales tax is the second most regressive tax you can have. I suspect the powers that be would love it, as it would keep the poor people singificantly poorer, and under their thumb.

Might as well just have a huge national lottery if that is what you want to do, and use that to fund everything.
I'm guessing you didnt read the wikipedia link one FairTax Dru posted?

Also Dru mentioned the REAL ID Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that a lot of people haven't heard of, including myself til now

aeiouy, just because something has been happening for a long time means we shouldn't do anything about it? I've only been in the world for 19 years, but this is my country, and I am the one who has to live in it for the coming years. Why should my generation have to do things like they always were just because our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers decided they would let things happen to them?

Why do you think everyone outraged is so crazy? I don't think anyone is dumb enough to just stop paying their federal income tax, because we know exactly what happens, we get fined and/or go to jail. I'm definitely not stupid enough to try it.

But where you are wrong is that we can't do anything about it. Like you said if people want to promote change, we can do it through our political process. But it will take a lot open minds, and perhaps a little bit of pissed off people.

You tell me why we should settle for less than the best of what this country can be?

You didn't read what I posted earlier, sales tax doesn't have to be regressive, and the way fairtax is set up, it won't:
http://www.wickedfire.com/134410-post53.html

And if the powers that be would love a national sales tax so much, how come they aren't doing it? How come they insisted on creating their bloated tax system? Why did they create the IRS instead to control everything? Why does the national sales tax idea have trouble catching ground with the powers that be?

Fuck... I've seen probably 3-4 other videos just like that one...

They all piss me off...

Why are there still hordes of people that don't seem to understand that this is going on?

I'm gonna go bury gold and guns in the yard... I'll be back later

just saw this on drudge this morning:
A man who contended that he was not required to pay income tax, and whose case led to an indictment against actor Wesley Snipes, was sentenced Tuesday to 27 months in prison.
Tax protester gets more than 2 years - Yahoo! News

Like I said before, you'd have to be a dumbass to try and protest this by not paying your taxes. Any tax reform done will have to be made by massive political support from millions of Americans and their representatives. Like in the video, the IRS is the one with the guns and handcuffs, not the taxpayers.

DruSam, I don't think people that stop paying taxes are dumbasses. In fact, I see them as brave freedom-fighters. It's these type of people that secured our country's independence. I wish I was brave enough to stand up to the biggest bully this planet has ever seen - the USA FEDGOV.

Here's a website dedicated to fighting these pricks:

We The People Foundation & We The People Congress

About 1500 of these guys took out a NY Times full page ad declaring that they were gonna stop paying taxes. To date, the IRS has only persecuted 3 or 4 of them. If 1500 people are willing to publicly flip-off the IRS, imagine how many do it privately. My guess is millions. If it ever gets to 5% I think we will see a sea-change in gov't behavior.

Right now the IRS seems to have the strategy of going after the highest profile cases. This way they can scare the rest of us into submission. Behind the scenes I suspect there are IRS insiders that see it as a losing battle and they are employing stop-gap hail mary's. I bet these bloodsucking traitors to the constitution hate the internets =)

=============================================

All you young guys keep saying it's been this way a long time. But really it hasn't. Only the last 40 years have seen this massive growth in taxation. At the beginning of that period people were fine with paying more and more taxes because they feared for their lives. This was the Cold War. Nuclear annihilation was a very real possibility. When the Cold War ended, our government went out and found new enemies (reminds me of 1984 - the book, not the year!). These new enemies DRUG DEALERS and TERRORISTS became the rallying cry for more powers and taxes. Earlier generations would not have stood for this trickery... but the baby boomers grew up with huge government and didn't know better. Plus gov't was buying off the old folks with Medicare and SS. This is a SCAM of magnificent proportions. We are the fucking suckers.

(Disclaimer: I was raised in a pro-Liberal home.) I think you guys focusing on the tax issue are missing the point. There is an elite group of people running the world right now and they don't give a shit about regular people like you or me. Read about the IMF and World bank and the WTO if you think I'm some sort of extreme conspiracy theorist. I've been reading about this all weekend and been doing research. I had read about this stuff when I was in high school and got fired up about and then just kind of gradually stopped caring. So I'm glad this was posted to rejuvenate me into hopefully coming to action. I did a lot of research about an alternative we could come up with but it turns out someone already did! It is a very liberal spin on globalization and I would greatly appreciate input from any conservative/Republican/rights on the matter.

I already said this in the beginning, don't even bother wasting your time with this shit. Its a lose-lose situation.

The government has to get their revenue from somewhere. They are already spending more than they bring in from taxes. All eliminating or minimizing taxes means is that the US government has to finance itself through debt and monetary inflation -- both are far, far worse than taxes (and both are already happening in a very big way.) Taxes have loopholes and openings for flexibility. Debt and inflation drag the entire economy down.

jesus i would guess aojon, you paid a shit load of income tax when you sold your company, something like half of what you sold it for.
This is the kind of education that is important for this generation of Americans. I once heard an interview with a guy who said hippies were just guys who didnt want to conform to things like the vietnam war, they were not going to give in to that crap. Its sad what happens this days, everyone wants to live in a gated community, community co - ops in newyork where according to what i read in the NY times whether or not you have money thats not good enough to buy an apartment(i might be wrong).
Whats positive to see is the amazing power of the internet, if you watch the rise of things like myspace, facebook fark, wickedfire this generation is slowly rising and not giving in to that stone age crap.
Its the same shit with the info deliguy had here about your rights when you get stopped by some cop and what to and what to never do. Fucking gold, i underestimated forums but such info especially for a guy like me driving around for more than 100 hrs a week commercially, it gives me the edge so that if i ever find myself in a bind i know what to do.
I remember 2 years ago sitting in a community college wondering why in the fuck i had to study calculus for 2 years, what does that help me with jack shit. This is the education that you really need in life, about your rights, the fact that you have to do your homework and having a magnetic personality and pretending you know what you are doing is not enough. You have to deliver fucking results, not having a loud mouth and thanks to people like aojon who take time to create communities like wf. Seriously i have completely changed my whole idea of what im is and that creating mental blocks of really how much you can do and how much you can make would just be shooting your toe with a big fucking shotgun.
nuff said. :)

You anti tax nuts have to understand that without taxes the price of goods wwould skyrocket to compensate for it. A candy bar would cost $1.5 instead of 80 cents. There is no free lunch.

I hope he was banned for his piss poor theory of economics =)

Taxes drain society. Money is best spent by those that earn it, not pompous, busy-body bureaucrats --- who siphon most of it off before buying popular support with the rest.

Without taxes, millions more would have the money to start businesses or invest with those that start businesses. We'd have more choice in candy bars and the price would go down -- not up. Competition raises quality and lowers price.

i read the first post only and was convinced to watch the video. i only started the beginning and i'm getting goosebumps.

hahahahahahahahahahahha the government gives tax breaks to stimulate the economy, are you saying thats cause prices will rise??

I've got no prob paying state/local taxes to support infrastructure.

100% of your federal income taxes go to pay off the interest to the federal reserve. That's where it all goes and it is an unpayable debt designed to enslave the population.

Tax cuts have always spurred economic growth.

Quite simply, the government prints the money out of thin air so they don't need your taxes. Taxes only exist to keep people enslaved and in debt to the government and also as a tool of control.

Almost every person here has violated the IRS tax code. It is so contradictory that it is impossible not to. The IRS can be used to seize your property or bring charges to put you in prison should you be doing something the government does not like. Taxation is control, nothing more.

On average, we pay more for taxes than we do for food, housing and clothing COMBINED.

We pay more taxes than a medieval serf did.
