But, would it be any better if they had to wait on a list to be seen or maybe even win a "drawing" to have a doctor at all?

I too think everyone should have health insurance. I've got children, nieces, and nephews that I would like to be sure that are ok and covered. I just don't think the answer is to give control to the government for them to tell everyone how to be covered. Sure, they say they won't be involved, but what has the government ever gotten into and not been heavily involved?
 


I agree with conversion that is more my mindset. I don't mind paying a little in taxes if they are used for the basics needed to run a country. I start getting pissed when my money goes other countries to help with aid (that never gets to the people) and to fund illegal wars. The worst of all is corporate welfare, my tax dollars going to people who can't run their business correctly so they get huge bonuses paid for by me. Bush was bad and Obama is the same just a different face and different rhetoric.

What cars.gov is doing probably has something to with the patriot act.
If they didn't try to be so slick about it, and advertise what you have to forfeit to trade in your clunker in a more obvious way, then I'd have no problem with it.

Fact is, the majority aren't gonna read a damn thing. Just click, click, click, until they can see some new cars or read more details.

This is standard network policy, EVERYWHERE that gives a shit about security. If, while logged in to the cars system, your computer is used in the commission of a crime that an agency from another country is investigating, they will give your shit up fast. They aren't going to tell the French someone in Nebraska accepted a Pinto on trade in.

See, the problem with your point is that one of the main issues with the healthcare system is that ER's are FORCED to take any and all patients within 250 yards of their doors. Does not matter if they have no insurance. Does not matter if it's an illegal alien. And with tens of MILLIONS of illegals here using ER's for healthcare, who do you think pays for that? The rest of us do. Hospitals and have to cover the losses somewhere or they would all be out of business...

And if you think OUR healthcare system is broken, what do you have to say about socialized healthcare like Canada, UK, and other places. Think i wanna wait 3-4 months just fior an x-ray when i can get it in 1 day now?

And this crap about people with pre-existing conditions not being able to get coverage...how do you think INSURANCE works. it's a numbers games. All based on the odds. If it's not run like that, you loose money on it. If the govermnet operates it this way and it's losing money, who do you think covers that loss. We do...

On wealth redistribution: If you look at the progressive income tax in this country, how can you claim that it's anything but wealth redistribution. The bottom 45% of income earners in this country pay NO federal taxes. That's almost 1/2 the working people in the country. The top 10% of income earners pay somewhere around 70% of the taxes. How is that not wealth redistribution? Wealthy people have their money taken from them to pay for welfare, healthcare, public services that people who pay NO taxes use. And it's not a small percentage of the wealthy's money that's being taken. It's up to 37% of federal, then throw in sales tax and some states that have tax. That's almost half of everything they make. Does that REALLY seem fair to you, not matter how much money that person makes? Let's say that person want's to give charity, that means that the person will keep less of his own hard-earned money then he gives away. That's F'd up.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of “Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage,” the “Limitation On New Enrollment” section of the bill clearly states:
