Great.

At work today, I get two great domains for a campaign I want to start-
On my way home, my mind hums with design, CSS, coding and campaign keywords.

I am planning all my moves for the night and tomorrow.

I get home, turn on the computer and.... SHIT!

Seems the mainboard is toast.

The grafx card blarghs around, led's indicating it is not getting power. I check, everything is connected, everything cool.

But the computer does not even go into bios, and although the HDDs click shortly, they do nothing else afterwards.

So I still think it is the mainboard, as the power for the grafx card comes directly from the power source, not the mainboard.

Crap.

I have no time, I have no patience for this. Typing this sitting on my wife's crap piece of laptop.

I am off to see if the Amish need more people to raise that barn.

Checking the net right now, and this seems to be an issue with the Motherboard (Asus P5Q-Pro) other people have experienced.

Re-seat the RAM.

If no go,

Take out all but one stick, and test each one individually.

What kind of beepage ya gettin?

No beeps at all. Thing does not even go onto the splash screen.

Any Motherboard recommendations that will not break the bank?

PS Trying the RAM now

Hey Emp, Amish and Asus P5Q-Pro motherboard I don't get the connection. LOL

Amish as in "I am getting away as far as possible from technology".

Yeah, didn't have any problems before either. Does not help me now.

Even the Asus boards are full of this. Of course the mods are all up in arms defending the board, blaming the users. Oh well...

I did all tests they prescribe, resetting the CMOS right now (the 10 minute variant), but honestly, I do not hold much hope for the board.

Bad thing is, I am really, really short on patience right now.

AAAAAAAahahahaha....

Seems the CMOS battery is on the Fritz.

Resetting the CMOS the hard way helped, getting a new battery tomorrow, then.

Sorry about that barn...

that sux bro. I just toasted my hard drive 2 days b4 i got my external...now im paying like $900-$1400 for data recovery.....fml.

sometimes, if you can find an identical harddrive to the one that crashed, you can swap out the main board of the drive. Usually it's the board on the drive that fails, so replace it and you might be able to recover your data.
Lot cheaper than having someone recover your data.

I just had the same thing happen, with the same board. Well, it happened like 2-3 weeks ago and I've just been using my laptop out of laziness.

I do miss my MP3 collection and archive of loot though... gotta get it swapped out when im not feeling lazy.
