Payday Loans

I understand what you guys are saying but I don't get why you guys are expecting altruism from a bunch of payday loans spammers. It's one thing to expect them to have enough sense to not ruin their own business methods but to expect them to not want to ruin a good thing for others seems a little unreasonable.

Yeah I don't expect any better or for them to care about others. Just saying it's a stupid thing to do even from a self interest point of view. Head over to black hat world and it's no secret there's some damn stupid spammers out there.

Anyone who competes in payday with SEO shouldn't be annoyed -- they should expect this. If they are annoyed they should target a less spammy industry.

Yeah yeah, let's not start this again.

Sorry yea didn't mean to imply he should care about us wholly but it's more about how his actions affect us.

And ya I know it's spammy but the better guys do it in a way that's not quite as obvious. It's just annoying to see knowing it could be an easier time if people smartened up a little bit.

Ego killed the golden goose. Same shit every time. When will these little boys learn that it is better to live quietly than in full exposure.

And for what? A bit of e-fame.

Just check the serps, any niche that gets volume + high CPC's is filled with spam, not just payday loans. Most spam sites will last 2-4 months at the top and then get nuked, but when your pulling x,xxx+ a day it's worth it.

Ha at 2-4 months, that's wishful thinking at least in Payday.

The people who have been in this space for a while would not act idiotic like this, it's only been the more recent attention that brought in this kind of stuff.

SEO discussions are always interesting.

The perspective used to be, you exploited holes until they closed, and the reason they were open wasn't because we were smarter than Google, just more agile. Google didn't roll out substantive serp updates regularly.

Somewhere along this line this narrative that SEOs are smarter than Google took hold, and now people believe that Google, which has dedicated teams, hardware, big data and the smartest minds in the world are being beat on the knowledge front by geniuses in the IM community who don't wear pants and smoke dope all day.

Ha I hope no one things SEOs are smarter, As you said more agile, like guerrilla warfare, only problem is this guy forgot to wear the camo. He's like the guys you see in Syria on Liveleak getting their head blown off as they stand out in the open with an RPG thinking they're untouchable.

Here one article in same tone:

The guy behind this is a genius. A genius at manipulating Google, at least. http://blog.majesticseo.com/research/identifying-a-bad-backlink-profile/#sthash.3c1W8Uz6.dpuf

It's pretty bizarre. I think people's expectations have risen, and also lots of people that had "good" sites with poor backlinks that were hit by penguin etc are really bitter. They see their site get penalised, then see all these spam sites ranking, then take to twitter saying how Cutts should be sacked because good sites get penalised and spam gets through.

Idiots, idiots everywhere. People just don't understand the scale of the technical problem from Google's perspective. Yeah they want to eliminate spam, but at the same time they want to do it with a high confidence level. You can't eliminate all spam but also eliminate 10% of good sites, it destroys the quality of search results. Distinguishing between spam and viral content is from a high level point of view quite challenging, and to go much further than that high level requires a whole lot of computation, which Google (or any company) just can't do on any meaningful scale. Hence, they're turning to keyword specific updates.

I don't claim to be more intelligent or capable than Google because I can rank for xyz term. To say so is arrogance and ignorance at its finest. I accept that I'm just finding holes in a giant net, a net that would take an incomprehensible amount of resources to secure, but that (to Google's credit) gets harder to penetrate each year. The holes are getting smaller, and will continue to.

Affiliate marketing SEOs are like dolphins feeding on the fish who escape the net of the fishermen.
