I honestly cannot believe why anyone who isn't drunk, high or brain damaged would rely on Paypal to build a long term, successful business.
Nanny country? Paypal is freewheeling and they do pretty much as they please because they're not a bank and unregulated. A bank guarantees your funds, c/o the FDIC, so they have to account for themselves to the government and live with a lot of rules. This is far more nannyish (but it protects us).

Paypal does suck ass, someone needs to come in and take a piece of there ass off.. but until then..
If you are doing an amount that would cause your busy severe damage, I would suggest getting your own merchant account. ACH Direct | ACH / Electronic Check Payment Processing Services is another easy alternative with low(er) fee's.
However, if you insist on internet based options, i have not heard 25% of the complaints about google checkout compared to Paypal.

they are notorious for scamming ppl out of money with their AUP violations and 180 day funds holds and yet dont consider themselves a bank so they cant be regulated under certain Banking acts that require them to be regulated.

But all this wikileaks/4chan/anon stuff is simply tooooo convenient and the timing is tooooooooo good.
The government wants a kill switch for the internet and to have censorship and controol and regulation and whatever.
Now all of a sudden there is panic about credit card numbers being stolen, important sites being hacked and taken down. People maybe losing money because paypal was down etc etc.
Seems sketchy to me.
Now the government can simply step in and say "see...its a dangerous world out there and this is just a small example of what can go wrong. The Russian spammers and scammers can do whatever they want blah blah blah. You need us to step in and protect you or next time it could be WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY worse."
And all the sheeple will say yeah, you are right. Please protect us and our privacy and personal information. kill switch for the net ftw.
