Please pirate the fuck out of Disney/Pixar movies

Drive-Ins, ftw.

Two adults, a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old would've cost you $16. (8 / adult, <5 free)
Large popcorn, with a free refill $6.
Drinks, whatever you paid for them at the grocery store / gas station / mcdonald's

So $22 (less if you bring your own popcorn) for the same 4 people, for not one but TWO movies. Plus you can bring a blanket if you tend to get cold, bring any food / drink you want, and nobody will tell you to keep your kids quiet. Oh yea, and you can probably even bring the dog. We do.

Drive-in are great... if you can even find one any more, I remember when I was a kid, and we went to the very last Drive-in in North Carolina, every car went home with a speaker box at the last showing.

And then up here in Michigan, I heard there was one somewhere, only to find out they went out of business a few years ago.

But yea, I used to love the fuck out of Drive-Ins. Always begged parents to goto those double feature on the weekend, usually where the movies were already a few months old, but the experience was nicer, especially if you could sit out on top of the car :P.

This thread is making me clench my teeth. I have friends in the WGA, and a couple that are AMPAS members. Film piracy is a very big problem for the movie industry, and keeps studios from funding new projects. If it's too pricey to see a movie, don't go on the damn opening weekend and wait for the video. That's what I do. Problem solved.

*cough* and how would we equate this same feeling to software piracy :D

I have two daughters and will never stop taking them to the movies. Yeah, prices are higher, but its that way for everything. The good old days of seeing a movie with your kids for $20 are over. As well as filling up your tank for $30.

This really has nothing to do with Pixar. If anything, Pixar is the one company that could get away with charging higher tickets because to date, they haven't produced a crappy movie. All their stuff is solid, and they should reap the rewards so they can keep making great films.

Let your friends know I've given away 14 gigs of their hard work since posting this thread.

I guess my biggest bitch is the 3D. Why even have a digital theatre when you force people to use those shitty glasses. The movie looks just terrible.

looked pretty good when we saw it yesterday in 3d- maybe it was your theater.

good cheap fun

Well, according to the movie industry ... piracy is the reason for the high(er) prices.

I didn't say I believe that.

Having kids is definitely expensive.

I'm an Asian Jew, so I watch all my movies online.

Today I was tempted to buy 4 bootleg DVDs for $10, but I was like "nah, I can get Japanese porn at home.

In the old days the studios charged the theatres a much lower percentage of the ticket revenues. These days the studios demand a much higher percentage, and for huge releases they sometimes demand 100% of ticket revenues (I remember one of the Star Wars films was like that when I worked at a movie theatre in uni). That's why all the food prices are insane, because that's the theater's source of revenue. They don't make money from ticket sales, I don't think they could even break even from just ticket sales.
