Remove Enlightened Members?

Edit: First of all, the organization of WF sucks. They put "Enlightened Members" under "Shooting the Shit" so to me, the posts there aren't marketing related.
 


I agree, mods please move this thread to Enlightened Members section.
 
I like the enlightened members section, but I agree about it not having the same amount of eyeballs. Too many really good threads get bumped to oblivion by useless shit posted in STS, so the need for a treasure trove area is important I think. I believe there is an easy solution though.

We'll be waiting forever for Jon to change the structure of the forum, but when a mod wants to move a thread to enlightened I believe there is an option in VB to leave the original thread too. That way, people will still see it for a few days in STS and when it inevitably gets dropped off the first page, it will still be available for months on the first page of the enlightened members section.

However, Enlightened Members section placement should be by Mod only. No need to allow people the choice of whether their thread is going to be worthy when they make it, let the community decide. Besides, it's essentially just a big collection of threads that should be stickied and we don't let non-mods sticky a thread.

That would be really good.

That way if a user updates the post (in either section) it will get get bumped back to the top in both. So it stays active because of STS and there is still the high quality archive that stays up to date.
 
how about

1 duplicating appropriate threads in the Enlightened forum instead of moving threads, so you have 2 copies.

or

2. Move to Enlightened forum after a period of time or non activity.

or

3. duplicate the thread in the Enlightened forum with just the OP epic post, and then on that thread, link to the original thread. <- I like this one
 
I always thought threads had to be moved to enlightened after so many posts/views because they were really good. I never even saw your thread pop up in STS tbh.
 
I wouldn't support totally getting rid of it. I like reading through the posts and would appreciate having them in one section rather than skimming through the STS.

I would however prefer having it in as a main topic and not a subtopic for STS, though.

And needless to say, no one should be able to create a new thread in that particular forum. Mods can move worthy threads there.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but on the forum I own, I am quite tough on who gets to sign up and be a member, because I figured out that most of the traffic wasn't from people posting, but from people reading, and so it was important that the people I had producing content to read, were the "right" people.

Wickedfire would probably 2x as popular with 1/10th as many posters.
