Removing gluten from diet today.

It's all about inflammation. The molecular structure of gluten and casein proteins is very close to pathogens. Gluten and casein protein make their way through the gut lining causing the body to constantly be in a hyper inflammatory state.

Most western diseases are inflammation related. Autism is affected by inflammation.

I'm personally involved with children who are afflicted with the autism spectrum and I can speak first hand at the improvement that is made when gluten and casein protein is removed from their diet. Sugar as well which is also causes a shitload of inflammation.

Trans Fat Free, Gluten Free, Sulfer Free, MSG Free, Refined Sugar Free, lactose intolerant...what a bunch of fucking fads. Here's the deal, people have been eating this shit for hundreds if not thousands of years. And in the past 5 years, every one of these things is now the worst possible thing you can consume. Yeah right.

People need to sack up and start eating meat, dairy, and all the other foods we've lived on since the dawn of man. I'm telling you this world has turned into a bunch of pussies.

People have not been eating refined sugars/trans fats/gluten, etc. for hundreds (or thousands of years) - thats ridiculous. these are things that have only recently been really put into our diet, and on top of that, only recently has there been really strong research to show how bad these things are for you. but go ahead, eat your shitty food to protect your ego. keep fighting against the fads - let me know how that works out for you.

i will say that most diet fads are retarded (ahem, acai) but gluten is not one of them.

It is an autoimmune disease because your immune system is mistaking gluten for an enemy and attacking itself, that is the very definition of an autoimmune disease.

If you don't have the disease, you're still going to lose weight because you're going to be eating a lot less carbs. That still doesn't mean gluten has anything to do with it.

If your intestines don't have physical damage, you're not gluten intolerant. The only way to know is to stick a camera up your ass.

You're talking about hashimotos thyroiditis - when you have so much gluten that your body really starts to attack itself. It takes a long time and a lot of exposure to get to that point. If you just eat gluten once and have an issue that doesn't mean you have an auto immune disease.

Also, from wikipedia:
Gluten sensitivity (also known as "gluten intolerance") (GS) belongs to a spectrum of disorders in which gluten has an adverse effect on the body. It can be defined as a non-allergic and non-autoimmune condition in which the consumption of gluten can lead to symptoms similar to those observed in celiac disease or wheat allergy (other conditions which fall under the gluten-related disorders spectrum).

in the end, whether you think gluten-free is a fad or not, there is literally no health benefit from eating it. so if you feel fine, then whatever. if you feel a little off, depressed, tired, low libido, etc. and you are eating gluten (and/or other shitty foods), maybe it's time to re-assess things. and maybe time to get past your ego and accept that maybe you don't know everything there is to know about everything :)

Bump. This thread has some good info for those interested in going Gluten Free.

Dream how did it go for you?

Eric do you eat oatmeal?

I'm also enjoying a gluten and dairy free diet (actually it's mostly paleo - though I'm not a fan of labelling it like that) - except for one day per week (as most others).

Daily food:

Eggs
Bacon
Chicken
Beef
Veggies in all sorts
Bananas, all sorts of berries
Coconut Milk
Coconut Oil
Dark Chocolate (91%)
Almonds/Almond Milk
Sweet Potatoes

Supps: Orange Triad, Fishoil

Once a week (mostly after training legs on saturday, I'll cheat a bit with cookies, beer, etc.)

My mom makes gluten free oatmeal cookies that are fucking off the hook, but that's the only time I eat any type of oatmeal. She uses gluten free oats. There are a few brands out there that offer them although I haven't looked in probably 7 or 8 years. I know Bob's Red Mill sell's gluten free oats also.

The crux of the matter is this: It is very much worth it to adjust your diet to your body's needs. The transformation to better health is worth every sacrifice you make in improving your diet. With this mindset, it's much easier to educate yourself and test what is the right diet for you. I'd recommend learning from Dr. Mercola online.

If you are very sensitive to gluten, you have to be vigilant and don't cheat at all. Do your research from reliable sources, not people just spouting an opinion. This can be life-changing for you and is worth the trouble, believe me.

people say the gluten free diet will make you lose weight but the fact is there aren't many brands of junk food that are gluten free so it is simply a side effect most of the time.

gluten free is the next acai.

Nigga you srs? The first gluten free products to hit the market were junk food products, it's what people want the most. 95% of the shit that's gluten free is junk food, trust me.

Cookies, pizzas, pasta, etc. is all available in a gluten free version now and you can't even tell the difference with most of them these days.

I'm looking into cutting out dairy too, I'm hoping I could get away with just cutting out milk and cheese and keep the whey and greek yogurt.

Appreciate the info. Do you avoid other grains too? Dairy? I'm seriously looking into going GF and I'm trying to find alternative carbs, but I've heard oatmeal and other grains can cause the same inflammation.

Go Primal.

Been on it year and half.. changed my life. Shit is insane. Great for you.

I've heard a lot of good things about going GF even without Celiacs, which I don't have. How has your life changed? How long does it take to feel changes? Do you avoid other grains? dairy?

Are you GF?

Well is it?

Contaminated processed food?
