Rise of the Planet of the Apes

It had a great plot and was very enjoyable. It's infinitely better than the Burton remake which was total bollocks. This is a proper re-boot (a la dark knight) and am looking forward to the sequel.

It was too slow for me. I thought the "rise" was going to be the apes rise to power (ending where the first remake left off). This was 2 hours only focusing on how 100 or so apes became somewhat smart. That could have easily been done in 30 minutes.

The sequel will probably be better, I was expecting more from this though.

I would be very interested to know what recent movies you liked SUP3RNOVA as, as far as Hollywood "big" movies go this was one of the best in quite a while, and I am really not a fan of what has been put out recently, such as Green Lantern (awful movie).

I don't really go to the theater for movies anymore, I mostly watch Indie films and a lot of the classics. I want to see Cowboys vs Aliens because of the cast.

Ok, just came back from this.

Definitely not a great film. It's not tooo bad either. It's... enjoyable. 7/10 for me.

The originals were FANTASTIC, the remake in 2001 was solid, and I can't wait to see this one.

There were a couple moments in this film that were intentional but subtle, the importance isn't revealed until the last few seconds. When you go back to those couple moments, gives some insight about how the 'rise' occurred that might be different than what you originally expected.

It would have been a great film if about 30 minutes were cut out of it and another hour added at the end that ties it to the last remake.

I haven't watch the initial remake and did not know until I see this thread. To be honest, I kinda like the show and think it is worth watching although it isn't world class.

thought of watching this week :(
DISAPPOINTED by seeing the rating and comments.

Watch it, the film is very good. It also has an IMDB rating of 8.0 so ratings overall are good. Everyone has different tastes, so don't just listen to one or two reviews here by individuals as they may like different movies to you.

The ending wasn't as expected. It's just a simple story to find their way back home. (Prison ---> Jungle).

Instead of "Rise of the Planets of Apes" it should have been "Mutant Apes return home"

Surely, I didn't enjoy the Movie. Looking forward for "Captain America: The First Avenger " It's rated 7.5/10 by IMDb.

I liked it.
I cant believe how good the graphics are these days. Its almost funny to watch the original movies. I suppose they could have put a little more meat into the story. Nonetheless great film.
##Spoiler alert.##
The ending is pretty clear, one side will reproduce and the other will start dying out. Part 2 is warranted.

Watched Captain America yesterday and thought it was pretty bland. Don't get me wrong it wasn't crap like Green Hornet, but it wasn't good like dark Knight either. It was just there. Nothing more.

My ratings on the past 4 movies I have watched are:

Captain America 5/10
Bridesmaids 3/10
Rise Of the Planet of The Apes 7.5/10
Green Lantern 4/10

ROTPOTA was extremely cheesy. When he said "It might increase intelligence" the guy immediately jizzed his pants without any sort of proof/confirmation

tbh I can't really think of all the movies I've watched that stand out, I watch a lot of them and watch a lot of TV shows (Office, Dexter, Mad Men, Weeds).

One of them that was pretty cool was Carriers (I watch most of my stuff on Netflix streaming). I'm really into post-apocalypse films.

Not sure if it's an indie film, but I also really enjoyed The Nines, and Chaos Theory (both Ryan Reynolds).
