Rolling Stone says: Tin-foil hatters are Right!

@Dchuk: Is my name Taibbi now? Grow up.

It's always someone else who is at fault.
So I'm at fault for wanting to live in a nicer world then?

Or are you saying that no one is at fault at all? If that's the case, I'm quite ok with working towards a nicer world and not "faulting" the sheeple for their stupidity. Either way it changes nothing.

Not really, it's similar to listening to a religious person try and convince you of the "truth".
But you don't even try to counter the point of the article!

You guys have become mindless attack drones, not even bothering to question the validity of the article this thread is about.

If I were in here pushing Jesus on you all, I have no doubt that someone here would bring up some inconvenient holes in my story, such as virgin births, sky faeries, evolution, conflicting bible versus... etc. I've seen you do it here dozens of times.

You don't doubt that the banks are conspiring and the system is out of control... So you can't argue with my point!

You're just programmed to attack when someone threatens your core programming and that's all you know how to do.

How sad.

Btw Why is Rolling stone suddenly "the truth"
Taibbi told SOME truth in this piece. Judging by the attack you guys are unleashing upon me, I feel very sorry for his career.

Lukep's ego is growing absolutely massive; I'm not sure why since more people are seeing him as the rambling idiot he really is.
Look at my likes on this thread and then look at yours... Evidence that you are responding irrationally. Now stop being a drone.

He even thinks he's superior to guerilla LOL!
I didn't say that either. Humans aren't generally able to be "superior" to each other.

Guerilla acts very differently than I do in response to a common set of stimuli. I have no doubt to this day that he has more knowledge about economics and praxology than I, but I cannot approve of how he chooses to use his talents. It's lazy and selfish, at the expense of people that he cares about.

If that makes me some kind of evangelist, just keep in mind that I'm not really trying to evangelize anyone through words; I use capitalism to make change. Again, threads like this one are meant as fun.

...Although you can be certain it won't be that fun to me next time.

That, in itself sadly, is revolutionary enough for me to need to hide my identity in this fucked up world you guys feel safe in.

It doesn't take studying conspiracy or being revolutionary to feel unsafe these days. Everyone from gubmint lovers to anarchists and everyone in between have a nebulous sense that things are going to shit.

You need to tread lightly when you use the word revolutionary. Revolution is serious business.

Now, please go ask yourselves why my post and this article made you pounce on me the way many of you did. What caused your emotional outbursts?

Wickedfire isn't populated with people who don't question their reality. And you in particular don't need to play shrink. You've make your diagnoses abundantly clear in the past.

Posts like these are just a friendly heads-up, perhaps with a little harmless gloating that would deserve no more response than a simple funny gif calling me out for my pride.

Read this sentence and judge its first impression on a scale of one to bullshit: On a marketing forum, I gloat harmlessly about my pride over being revolutionary for moving abroad, supporting cryptocurrencies, and posting about conspiracies.

If you think that sentence sounds ridiculous then you're getting an idea of how you come off to some people on this forum.

I submit that you guys reacted so irrationally because the subject of this Rolling Stones article is hard for you to deal with on a very basic level. There is too much scary truth there, and deep down you don't want to believe that you live in that world.

You're just programmed to attack when someone threatens your core programming and that's all you know how to do.

Read the thread and you'll see that the conversation was going well until you called dchuk out like a douche and went full tin foil calling people sheeple. There are plenty of people interested in the Rolling Stone article who are happy you posted it. Not so much that you act like a goober.

And that, my friends, is exactly why you have a government at all.

You simply don't want to see the truth.

Unlike a lazier anarchist in this thread, I still cling to hope that you all find it one day.

People seem more open here than most other forums online to 'the truth', whatever that is. Without healthy skepticism people end up worse than they were before opening themselves up to questioning things in the first place. I don't think this point is lost on you.

You need to drive a large wedge between your understanding of knowledge and action. I agree with a lot of your conclusions about the current state of affairs with the US government, Wall Street, etc. I don't agree with the actions you take in response to them: moving abroad, buying bitcoin, etc. Does that make you better than me or vice versa? No. It means we have different priorities and our actions follow accordingly. I've done some hardcore activism, things most people don't have the cajones to do, but I never looked down on the people who supported the causes I've fought for and decided not to involve themselves actively. Why should I? It's their choice and they generally have good reasons, reasons I've come to appreciate and now act on myself.

If you want to feel superior fighting for a cause you believe in then good luck with that but it puts you into douchebag territory and also ends up detracting from the message.

If that makes me some kind of evangelist, just keep in mind that I'm not really trying to evangelize anyone through words; I use capitalism to make change. Again, threads like this one are meant as fun.

Then chill the fuck out and get busy with that capital. You say you look forward to 'that day' when you'll have contributed something to making a lasting change in the world. Whatever you're doing with your capital, a few hundred dollars some spare time and a creative mind can achieve more for a cause in a week than three years of posting on a gay webmaster forum or planning for some unrealistic grand play that will never come to fruition.

That hope you're clinging to, about others seeing 'the truth'? Do yourself a favor and let it go. It makes life much easier and contrary to popular belief it doesn't detract from the efficacy of whatever crusade you're on. Quite the opposite actually.

-Peace

I don't know what is worse.

The 1.9999% of the population that believe in every conspiracy.

Or the 98% of the population that believes everything the authorities say without question. Hell, my grandmother used to tell me (and she was an english teacher with a major in History), history is HIS-story. Not the truth.

Both sides fall for the same thing; each believe too much. One believes too much of the official stories. One believes too much in the non-official stories.

I will say I believe the problem is more in the 98%. Even if the 1.9999% are too paranoid and too easily believe they are at the forefront (which only as a logical extension of their own beliefs is impossible), they at least are not willfully ignorant.

Fair point and I agree, but I don't think 98 percent of people are idiots. Some cynicism is warranted but the "Boston was an inside job" type of people are just deluded, they are in this odd state where they look for evidence to confirm their belief that absolutely everything is not as it seems and ignore the much more likely (and boring) realities.

@Dchuk: Is my name Taibbi now? Grow up.

That is probably the most disingenuous response I've seen you make. It's pretty obvious what you implied by linking to that article. So stop using Taibbi as a strawman to hide behind, now that you've been exposed as being a giant arrogant douche.

Look at my likes on this thread and then look at yours... Evidence that you are responding irrationally. Now stop being a drone.

Wow so this is about likes now? It's not hard to gather up a bunch of sheeple who believe in conspiracy nonsense like 9/11 being a cover up, Sandy Hook being a cover up, Boston bombings being a cover up, etc.

I think what greenleaves said is spot fucking on. You've got dumbass sheep who mindlessly believe in every conspiracy, and you've got dumbass sheep who mindlessly listen to authority.

A very small percentage of people actually ask questions and do critical thinking on their own to figure out how the world really works. Watching a bunch of conspiracy videos is not critical thinking. Your lack of critical thinking was totally exposed when you thought that The Onion video about the government confiscating all US dollars was real!

The video is below for reference:

Things aren't as black and white as you make them out to be. As people have already pointed out here, there's no fucking super group out there that's pulling all the strings. But without a doubt there are very wealthy and powerful people out there who control the majority of the wealth, and have a disproportionate influence on the economy and government policy.

It's laughable for you to call me and others like me a mindless drone simply because I question your very simpleminded view of the world.

People like me aren't the sheep who want believe everything the government tells us. To the contrary, we try to make the existing system work for us since the majority of consumers are in fact mindless drones that we can profit from.

Maybe you should focus your energy on that so that you can become more wealthy rather than blowing a bunch of hot air in a webmaster forum just to feed your pathetic ego.

I didn't say that either. Humans aren't generally able to be "superior" to each other.

You say that with one side of your mouth, but your actions betray you my fine feathered friend. You're acting superior already by calling me and others like me a drone simply because my opinion is a bit different from yours. You arrogantly assume that because we do not subscribe to your version of how the world works, that we all must be fucking mindless idiots. Get off your high horse!

That's not what makes you a coward.

You have knowledge that sets you apart from the sheeple, knowledge that gives you a chance to help stop the greater evil, yet you refuse to use it.

...

I won't call you evil or immoral for not taking it any further, but you certainly aren't trying to right a great wrong here that few are in a position to do anything about other than you... And that's just not very brave.

So you're saying that anyone that has "knowledge that sets them apart from the sheeple" has a moral obligation to liberate said sheeple from their ignorance.

Eh...

"For centuries, the battle of morality was fought between those who claimed that your life belongs to God and those who claimed that it belongs to your neighbors - between those who preached that the good is self-sacrifice for the sake of ghosts in heaven and those who preached that the good is self-sacrifice for the sake of incompetents on earth. And no one came to say that your life belongs to you and that the good is to live it."

Actually, what is most likely is completely unknown to us. Even for the people on top of social pyramid, they can't know with 100% certainty. The world of power is filled with smoke and mirrors, hidden intentions, interest groups, conspiracies (real and confabulated), controlled oppositions, and a myrad of social segments that rise and fall and rise again, each vying for control of resources.

Reality is extremely complex, our cognitive skills are very limited and human creativity for all possible reasons is limitless, creating infinite possible scenarios, each with different degrees of incorporated truth, lies, and manipulation.

Uncertainty is an unpleasant place to be even if it is the most rational place. Hiding from this unpleasantness is why different social groups adopt strong positions which they attach to their ego so as to be able to feel superior to other social groups and not have to face the infinitely complex and disturbing nature of reality (that nothing can be trusted or known with complete certainty)

</debbiedowner>

Also I didn't use the word idiot.

The word idiot is useful in dealing with reality. But when analyzing reality, it is an emotionally charged word designed to create easy categories so as to define the 'us' and the alien 'other'. Reality is more complex than that. You could say 'naive to the ways of power'. That would probably be more accurate since there are people who can be genius and un-aware of the ways of power. I could give an example in Einstein who didn't fathom how his discoveries would be used.

@Dchuk: Is my name Taibbi now? Grow up.

Grow up?

Just admit you were trying to be cute and witty by 1) calling me out specifically and 2) directly quoting the one spot in the god damn article that says Illuminati and it blew up in your face because you chatter so much you can't keep track of what you've said and now you're backpedaling.

Again, you're a tool.

Agreed. I'm just not one of them... The only conspiracy I'm agreeing with on this thread is the very same one that no one is denying...

I Love how you quoted the youtube directly but didn't quote the thread itself where it was obvious that I was joking:

Even erifdecekiw knew I was joking... You're the only one dumb enough to think that wasn't a joke.

How sad... Please stop posting now... You're really embarrassing yourself.

So you're saying that anyone that has "knowledge that sets them apart from the sheeple" has a moral obligation to liberate said sheeple from their ignorance.
No, that's not it. I've been an atheist since I was 9. I won't fall for that trap, but I do admit that there is a semblance between this point and being 'preachy.'

What I'm saying is that we shouldn't give up the fight in general.

The problem is that statists want to control everyone by declaring that this hallucination called "the government" exists and has power over us, right?

If you know it's a hallucination, you're HELPING IT EXIST by not fighting it in some way. By appearing to not be against it, you lend to it social acceptance by apparent majority to those that are for it.

I don't care what the effort is... But by his own words Guerilla seems to be promoting the tactic of not fighting at all. He just now wants to 'live a good life and not bother anyone,' which would be fine for the sheeple, but not for someone in a struggle for freedom.

Again, I don't think that 'converting sheeple' through WF or any public board would be effective, and I use a entrepreneurial method to do so. Again, threads like this are meant for fun and in this case I admit I gloated a bit.

Just admit you were trying to be cute and witty by 1) calling me out specifically
Admitted above. "Cute and witty" is precisely why I used the "dchuk defender of the sheeple" meme.

and 2) directly quoting the one spot in the god damn article that says Illuminati and it blew up in your face because you chatter so much you can't keep track of what you've said and now you're backpedaling.
I see the problem now...

You're a very superficial reader.

Read the article again, and you'll see that the article is not, in fact, about the illuminati, and in fact in the quoted section itself discredits the illuminati's existence.

Sorry for saying you haven't grown up... But perhaps your reading comprehension skills could use some polishing.

Great point. I should have used more neutral language than "dumbass sheep"; naive would have been a much better and less emotionally charged choice.

Greenleaves is far more coherent and articulate than Lukep.

It's a fundamentally arrogant position to assume one is right and everyone else is wrong because they are dumb. But that's what happens when you get into politics and conspiracy theory. Neither are inclusive. Neither create meaningful social relationships.

This captures it for me completely. Bless Rand.

Actually, what is most likely is completely unknown to us.
And mostly not important. There is a point at which more information becomes noise and creates a false sense of "knowledge".

You only admitted to the fact that you were joking when people called you out on it. Therefore I consider your claim that you were joking to be quite dubious. Perhaps you were really joking, but if that was truly the case then it was a really ham fisted attempt that blew up in your face. Much in the same way that your insult to dchuk blew up in your face.

Even erifdecekiw knew I was joking... You're the only one dumb enough to think that wasn't a joke.

I'm not dumb. I'm merely skeptical in your claim that it was a joke because you have a history of back peddling.

As far erifdecekiw knowing that it was a joke. Well he can speak for himself in this thread I guess.

How sad... Please stop posting now... You're really embarrassing yourself.

Says the guy who constantly gets egg all over his face when making jokes, and calling out people like dchuk.

It's hard for me to take "You're really embarrassing yourself" seriously from a guy who's completely incoherent and has a habit of rambling without end. Guys like Greenleaves and Guerilla frankly run circles around that feathered ass of yours.

You missed my point, but never mind.

The government like it or not, does exist and is not a hallucination.

I understand what you mean when you use the term 'hallucination' but its disingenuous.

Even if everyone work up tomorrow and stopped participating in the state it wouldn't mean the government never existed or wasn't real. It would just mean that it failed to maintain control.
