Ron Fucking Paul

What caused RP to not get further, was that all of the people online dont register Republican in time, and don't vote, and don't get other people to the polls.

this

if Ron doesn't win or finish second in the Iowa straw poll, he's done.

and this

A bunch of young idealists blogging about liberty doesn't win elections. Calories win elections.

The last thing the world needs is another RP blog or forum. If you aren't a registered Republican handing out lit to your neighbors and your local Republican groups, then you're just screwing around.

If the internet does anything, it needs to be a "Get your parent to vote for Ron Paul" campaign.

The goal would be to create an internet following for RP and then push a campaign like that (getting the younger online folk to talk to the older offline folk).

@Super, if Ron doesn't win or finish second in the Iowa straw poll, he's done. Do you know which state goes second in the Republican primaries? Do you know what Super Tuesday is?

He needs a lot more than that.

Plus, how can I have an impact on the Iowa straw poll without using the internet?

If you don't understand the key events of the election season, and when they occur, what good is your blog going to do?

I'm genuinely interested in researching libertarianism further

I understand key events in the election, but if I were to blog, the purpose would be learning more about libertarianism and politics. I'm sure there are other newbs out there that might want to start doing some research themselves.

Ron Paul isn't going to matter until you break up the Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate.

I donated too. The most effective thing I think for his campaign is just listening to the man talk. Get some YouTube videos shown to people. It is obvious that he cares about the long term health and prosperity of our country. He is incredibly smart and calls things out for what they are. (ex: Using inflation as a way to sneak tax increases to the public) I feel like the other politicians on both parties are out for their own agendas and could care less about the country.

This man has got you all conned as fuck.

He has been talking the same shit for what, 20 years? And accomplished... absolutely nothing.

YEAH RON PAUL BRO! LETS PUT ALL OUR FAITH IN AN OLD MAN!

Even the frat boys like him because... it's just the trend. He won't win, sorry to burst your bubble, but democracy is an illusion and I pity anyone that believes in it.

If you actually believe he will be able to destroy the federal reserve I want your email address you easily conned fucking douche bag.

Cya.

I used to vote, I dont now, but I might again in the future.

I know I am opening myself up to trolling and all kinds of shit saying this, but in all the prior times I voted and felt good about it, I was disappoint later on.

Not going to go into specifics as that would be a long ass post, but my experience from it was that once the person gets into office, you can not control what they do/how they do it or who changes what they put into effect once they are out of office.

I am not saying, just b/c we elect someone into office we control them, my point is they all lean on their party to get elected, stand for issues they say they will support, and blah blah blah.. only to some extent:

1. renigg on the stance once elected
2. never do any of the shit they said they would
3. get a policy started, only to have someone after them change it
4. get stalled on other checks and balances that are in place

Would I vote for Ron Paul, hell yeah. Would I work the system to get him elected, prob. not. However, I have felt that if instead of wasting my time doing all the work to "help" out, my time is better spent making more money and getting myself to a better place. This is why I just end up donating monies or filling in a checkbox and not campaigning and shit.

I am not going to waste time to get someone elected anymore when I could be making more money for me and my family. No matter what, once that person is elected shit is still out of your hands and a lot of times out of their hands. The only for sure thing that I can count on is myself.

Hmmm sounds familiar, sounds like your current presidents entire election campaign.

Stupid fuck.

His was a fake campaign and proven to be a fake over the next years in office. Ron Paul has been like this almost his whole time. He has solid fundamentals. That is all.

I have a theory that anyone who votes for ron paul in the elections will be put into a database named "people to exterminate"

Maybe he isn't full of shit... okay, but don't waste your time supporting him. He. Will. Not. Win.

"Lets take down these evil scumbags by playing their unfair chess game! YEAH!!!"

If you're only going to donate or do shit on the internet, then you aren't really trying.

I participated a lot in the 2008 grassroots campaign. What caused RP to not get further, was that all of the people online dont register Republican in time, and don't vote, and don't get other people to the polls.

This 100%- convincing one of your friends to go register is incredibly powerful. I was amazed last time around at how once I convinced one of my close friends to register repub and go vote in the primary he then convinced his girlfriend, mother, father and 2 brothers. His Mom then also convinced half her church. So 1 person for me probably turned into 50 votes if not more. Point is you're better off talking to friends- take them the voter registration card and tell them what to mark if necessary. It works.

This. Most straw polls don't matter, but this particular one is very important. It has been a key indicator for a long time of who will win Iowa. He who wins Iowa almost always (if not always) gets the repub nomination. Oh and Romney has dropped out of this primary because he knows he can't win.

A lot of you are clearly passionate about getting Paul into the White House. If you're having trouble forming persuasive arguments that compel others, here's a good place to start...

George Will Flirts With Denim Clad Libertarians - Conor Friedersdorf - Politics - The Atlantic

Although the author's approach has little to do with Paul, he provides a good summary of salient points from a libertarian perspective. This is stuff you can use to coax those who are receptive to the notion that "smaller government is best." (As a bonus, Friedersdorf is an engaging writer.)

The author doesn't tap into logic as much as emotion. And that is good. If logic were the law of the land, we wouldn't be in our current mess. To convince voters, you'll need to tap into their emotions.

Stossel is also good for material. :)

For those of you saying Ron Paul won't win......... you are probably right.

However, continuing to vote for people because they are the lesser of two evils isn't working either. I'll "WASTE" my vote, and my donations where I please. If enough people stop worrying about winning, and start worrying about supporting what they are REALLY comfortable with, things will start to change.

Or do you REALLY think Mitt Romney is going to be a good president? We've pretty much got Obama's measure at this point.

On a side note, 100's of RP supporters got into local politics last run. They are making small changes all over the country. Eventually those little guys might be big guys.
